  1. Unpopular Opinions

Thing is with the global warming denial--tobacco companies used to sponsor studies that showed that there are no health effects from cigarette smoking. I can respect policy decisions not to impose regulations on pollutions if their only argument is that it's not good for the bottom line--which...
  2. Should I get a 10th gen Si or....

That's how I see it too. If I am going on merits alone, looks like it's the 10th gen has the 9th gen beat.
  3. Should I get a 10th gen Si or....

I also talked to a friend who had both and he put it as--9th gen is a better Si (even with the K24, you still get the VTEC, feels tighter and better handling than a regular Civic) but the 10th gen is a better car (his brother has a Civic Hatch and he admits that the lower Civics have really...
  4. Should I get a 10th gen Si or....

I've enjoyed the boost in the GTI, but the high revving NA engine is ultimately more satisfying. I won't rule either out at this point. I haven't driven a 9th gen yet, but liked how the 10th gen did. My only reservation for the 10th gen are the looks (it looks okay in aegean blue or modern...
  5. Should I get a 10th gen Si or....

So here's another "help me choose" thread. My main criteria for a car is that it has to be responsive but easy to live with. The Miata was surprisingly a good daily, but I just need something with more cargo space. One of the big question is "how much more cargo space"? I've always liked that...
  6. "Fun" cars vs Civic hatch/Si

Hi everyone. I'm in the process of selling my 2009 Miata in search of something more practical. I've also been doing less canyon runs partly because of time constraints and partly because I don't find them as entertaining as I once did. With that said, the Miata is a bit too much for the kind...
  7. Question abut stock intercooler and potential upgrades

Maybe wait on the IC and see how the car holds up come June/July.
  8. 4.1 vs 4.4 final drive ratio

I used to drive a Mazda 3, so downshifting to pass isn't much of a hassle for me. Even with the 4.1 drive ratio, I think the RPM I guess the 4.4 does allow for easier passing power, though I don't recall that being an issue when I had the 2017 Si for a few days. I also used to drive a 2.0L...
  9. Question abut stock intercooler and potential upgrades

Upgraded IC in itself won't give you more power--it just allows you to make peak power more consistently after a point where heat soak would have overwhelmed the stock unit. So if you want something that can really give your car an oomph, tune and DP. Most factory intakes are pretty efficient...
  10. Why is there NO rev hang in the Type R?

Ah I see. Yeah I've only owned cars from 2007+ so the Miata is as analog as they come for me, even if it is the much-reviled (undeservedly so if I may add) NC generation.
  11. Why is there NO rev hang in the Type R?

If the revs hang, doesn't it mean they stay longer at the revs of the previous gear, not the next gear (assuming you're upshifting)? I've had a Civic Si through Turo for 3 days and I'd have to wait a while to get that 1-2 shift smooth. With my 2009 Miata, I have to get to it right away...
  12. 4.1 vs 4.4 final drive ratio

Who here has extensive experience with Si equipped with the old 4.1 and the new 4.4 final drive ratio? I might get a Civic Si in several months, and the depreciation is so small that it makes more sense to just cough up a little more for a new one, but the only gripe I have about the 2020+...
  13. Unpopular Opinions

I don't know whose opinion is more unpopular, yours or mine. Most people seem to think they're cool, judging from all the aftermarket kits seen on the mk7 GTI forum. I'm a bit of a luddite.
  14. Unpopular Opinions

I've just seen them in rice cars before they made their way to fancy cars. Also, the Audi ones I particularly don't like because they still have the traditional blinkers in addition to the sequential lights (US regulations demand that the initial light-up be a certain surface area) I just...
  15. Unpopular Opinions

    1. Lip spoilers under 1" wide are dumb 2. Your headlights don't need to look any angrier 3. Leave the badges alone 4. Leave your rear reflectors alone 5. Custom plates with make and model of your car is retarded 6. Novelty puddle lights are dumb 7. Yellow covers on anything besides fog lights...
  16. Dream Car

One car? Latest S4 or M3 with manual transmission Two cars? 911 or Miata, and a E class
  17. Buy now or wait for 2022s

I'm glad in the video they also confirmed that 6MT will be available across the board (probably not every single trim level but more than one), and that the Si and Type R are to come.
  18. Buy now or wait for 2022s

I like it--the body lines and the back end feels more upscale and more like what Audi is doing. I felt the lines on the 10th gen were to "swoopy" and the details were way over the top. The 11th gen isn't perfect. The tail lights are way too big, the LED running lights would have looked better...
  19. Do you ever feel it's a waste to build your Si?

Not a Civic owner, but I think all the various trims have their own niche. The Sport Hatchback if you want a hatchback and a low-key & low-budget entry into a fantastic FWD platform Si if you want a LSD and don't mind the reduced cargo space. You still get a bit of pep and great gas mileage...
  20. Sold my 2020 SI Sedan, selling upgrade parts

What made you go back to an Audi? I have a 2007 GTI, which is pretty much a poverty-spec A3 hatchback and thinking of going with a Si for lighter curb weight, snappier shifter, and ease of fixing.
