You need to clone the new ECU with the data from your OEM ECU. That data is specific to YOUR car. In order to read your OEM ECU you have to 'unlock' it. Then you can write that data to the new ECU (clone it). Unlocking it seems to make some change to the code on the ECU that is detectable. As...

Yes, the processor on the ECU board is password protected. Password has to be read and password protection disabled before you can program over OBD2 port.

How did you bolt down the sub? I have mine mounted temporarily to the plastic trunk liner but it needs to be bolted to metal somewhere.

I have a 2017. My advice would would be to wait for a 2019 model. Mine is currently in the dealers lot waiting for a dash module. 3-6 week backorder. 2019 should have many of the issues of the 2017-18 fixed. Just the addition of a volume control knob will be worth the wait, in my opinon
