Agreed , as much effort that they put into disguising it , you would of thought they went with a whole new design. But nope , behold the 2/3 Pilot with a few more inches of ground clearance.
I'd run it .
It's Dexos Rated/Licensed and it has API Starburst.
But like Civicdabest-Foo stated, there are other name brands out there for the same price or less.
Currently I'm running Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W-20 that I purchased for $15.00 (5qt container) on sale a few months ago.
Blue smoke is oil , I'd film it doing it and take it to the dealer , see if you can speak with their shop foreman or service manager and demonstrate it for him/her if possible.
I use the Fram Ultra XG7317 filter for two oil change intervals.
Like mentioned before , Bobistheoilguy.com holds it in high praises , it's a very good filter for the price.
New ones are now rated for 20K miles.
+1 - Last oil change I looked for the drain plug underneath and couldn't see anything, nor could I find a fill hole.
So it'd be nice a least to see where they are.
9th gen procedure states you had to pull the drivers side tire/wheel to access both.
Maybe it's the same for the 10th gen :dunno:
Good point. And the longer you keep a K&N in ,the more dirt it accumulates and in theory the more efficient it becomes.
But data doesn't lie.
http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/kn-vs-oem-filter.html
To obtain flow , one must give up efficiency.
And for the majority of the population that drives...
Sacrificing filtration efficiency for air flow is ok on a race car.
But I don't see the benefit on a daily driver.
No K&N air filters in my cars anymore.
Besides, the biggest obstruction in the intake system is the throttle plate.
Just to clarify some info - the Honda OEM filter is a good filter. No issues with using it.
But Honda seems to favor flow vs filtration. Efficiency for the OEM is 66.5% vs Fram Ultra is 99%
Again no issue in using either one. Just wanted everyone to know.
See pdf file link below where Amsoil...
Currently running Mobil 1 EP 0w20 and a Fram Ultra XG7317 filter.
Next oil change, I'll be using Mobil 1 AFE 0w20 .
It was on sale at Costco last month for $25.99 (pack of 6qts) ,and had a $12 rebate.
