  1. 2020 Hyundai Civic

It seems they like to do that, take a successful design, chop it, combine it. TO me it looks like Audi front Civic rear.
  2. Want to get a 2018 Civic Hatchback but terrified of the fuel dilution issues

This is not a bad idea for someone that is overly concerned about the dilution issue, normal oil change interval on my car (with most cars these days with synthetic oil) is about 10K miles per the maintenance (re)minder. You could vacuum out the oil pan (through the dipstick tube) at 5K miles...
  3. Honda quality sorely lacking

Mine has the "every safety features warning light come on one after another" problem. Mostly comes on when on the hwy but once it did when I was backing out of my garage. It happens about once per month. It always resets when the ignition is turned off. Took it to the dealer, they could not...
  4. Scotty says "Buy the 2.0 Civic over the Turbo".

This here, above, is the answer. As people get older (scotty) they want simple and reliable. Where I live Its freaking "toyota Camry city" or its variant in Lexus form. Also, older technology with fewer part "in theory" is more reliable because less thing can go wrong. Should we go back to...
  5. CVT Transmisson

Most if not all automatic transmissions have some type of clutch. To the best of my knowledge, the conventional 4,5,6, speed autos with planetary gears have several clutch packs that hold onto other planetary gears or to the transmission housing and they move through the gears. Our CVT should...
  6. CVT Transmisson

YES!, Same here. driving our Suburban up this short but steep hill, Engine revs, hard shift from 1-2 sometimes to 3, then come to a stop sign. It is a much more pleasant drive with the CVT civic.
  7. Is engine braking all the time bad in the long run?

true,... but you will have more heat build in the transmission going uphill vs. going downhill using engine breaking.
  8. Is engine braking all the time bad in the long run?

When you are using engine braking t slow the vehicle, the wear is more on your engine not the trans. But since itis well lubricated the wear is minimal. It is actually less wear on the trans than going uphill. The trans will only select a lower mimicked gear ratio and it will spin the engine...
  9. CVT Transmisson

What he said in this thread! The 1.5 Turbo civic uses the same CVT the Honda accords do. If the CVT can handle the larger heavier accord, it will be just fine in the civic. If you are concerned, many insurance companies offer mechanical breakdown insurance at minimal cost (covers itup to...
  10. Where is the cigarette outlet located in 2016 Civic EX?

True, Honda and many other car makers have not offered ashtray in their cars for a while. Ashtray + 12V cig lighter is dinosaur.
  11. Where is the cigarette outlet located in 2016 Civic EX?

Cig lighter sockets are different type of sockets. They have spring loaded side grabbers that release the cig lighter but won't let it fly out once the resistor coil (of the cig lighter) is heated up. Often, those are also on a 20 amp fuse.
  12. Oil Change

I have the vacuum operated oil extractor mentioned in the above post. And I have used it to correct an "overfilled oil level" situation. It requires a thin tube and it is best to use when the oil is hot. I am not sure if it will have the reach to the bottom of the pan. Otherwise, in theory, you...
  13. Where is the cigarette outlet located in 2016 Civic EX?

There is a 12 volt power socket. No cigaret lighter.
  14. Oil Dilution and Transmission Type (1.5T)

warranty to 6 year and unliited miles...nice
  15. Best Mods for longevity

let see... Don't buy a K&N air filter, just the buy a K&N air filter sticker and place it in line of sight on the rear glass. Every time you look back you will see it and it will make you feel empowered. Oil catch cans have been debunked and defunked a few threads down...
  16. Came out to my car today and saw this....

This...^ I've worked 10+years at the dealer service dept. Dealers call it a different name such as quick-lube, express service or what not. These are service that can be done quickly by a person with minimal onsite training. These are the high school kids. I can teach a monkey how to rotate...
  17. Mugen Hydrophilic LED mirror, it's here!

We are still not closer to the truth. (?) Most, if not all resins are hydrophobic which is the opposite of hydrophilic.
  18. interesting CVT behavior

YOU got that right! : )....Honda please "gimme" one of those CTR w/CVT.
  19. Mugen Hydrophilic LED mirror, it's here!

What in the .... Hydrophilic mirror? It has high affinity to water? It likes water? Could someone explain why is this mirror hydrophilic; or someone at the marketing dept just wanted to win the "cool naming contest"?
  20. CVT Longevity -

Professional or acceptable? I let you in on a secret; I am not here for neither of those. I am here for information and entertainment. There is plenty of both. On the other hand....the title of the tread is "CVT longevity", why do I need to know if someone favors a manual trans and how good it...
