  1. Vivid Racing Tune

Wouldn't Honda know that their RSA encryption had been modified/bypassed if they did a deep scan since they often have anti-tamper detection mechanism? Just trying to determine how this service differentiate from the traditional jailbreak and flash to justify the price point. Their marketing...
  2. Vivid Racing Tune

The price seems a bit out of whack yeah I agree, but I think theres a caveat. This looks simple bench flashing where they are directly overwriting the rom from the video. It doesnt look like they are physically modifying the ECU or unlocking it which should make it virtually undetectable by...
  3. My Hondata & PRL Experience

Great write up, and thank you for spending the time to document this. That mid range torque is ridiculous! This dyno is definitely a heart breaker, but the before/after is all that matters and you made some solid gains there. Intercooler is definitely going to be a high priority with this...
  4. [Canadian] Type R Information Updates

Theres `18 CBP sitting at the local dealership since December here in Nova Scotia if anyone wants to make trip, i can get you in touch the sales peeps.
  5. Any shops already working on tuning these?

If that stage 2 torque curve is correct, I fear for the life of my stock clutch :X
  6. The Infamous 2nd Gear Crunch

I had the 2nd gear grind with high rpm and very quick shifts. So I had my MTF flushed out by the dealership (warrantied). Did about 6 launches in about a week, no grinds. Lets see if it'll come back after a few thousand kilometers.
  7. Fast Wheels Winter Setup

Totally with you on that one, I'm getting the same setup put on Tuesday with 225s, this winter is going to be hell.
  8. Mishimoto's 2017 Type R Intake R&D Thread

Most of the intakes on the Evo IX was built this way as well, retaining the stock diameters and airflow so that the air that passes over the MAF isnt turbulent and is the same as the OEM. In most cases people simply just removed the intake box and clamped a piece of adapter with an Amsoil cone...
  9. has anyone wrapped their window sills in CF

I beg to differ. The hardiness of the paint very much different from different manufacturer. BMW black or Porsche balck are very much on the opposite spectrum of each other in terms of hardiness. Bumpers will feel harder and your polishing technique will differ from metal surfaces as the heat...
  10. has anyone wrapped their window sills in CF

considering how soft the paint is there this is a great idea. Probably a cheaper alternative to the red carbon package lol.
  11. FK8 Break In Period and Oil Change

Amsoil Signature Series is top tier in terms of store bought oil in terms of group 4 oil. You can usually get a really good deal for a case of them at your local car parts store or even motorcycle shops.
  12. FK8 Break In Period and Oil Change

Im sure a good group 4 like Mobil 1 EP and QSUD has been very well received in oil testing on multiple forums not to mention the religious oil cult bobistheoilguy forums and they seem to perform fine. I ran this combination for my WRX and Evo with the NAPA Gold Wix filter since 2005 without...
  13. FK8 Break In Period and Oil Change

changed mine at around 3500km. It ran out a bin thinner than I would have liked it..... I would probably be comfortable changing it once every 6-8,000km to be honest since. Changed it with Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0w20 and NAPA Gold wix filter.
  14. Slight grind while coasting

Wouldn't you be able to hear a varation in pitch of the rattle if it was the diff? Mine just gets louder or quiter when im off the throttle.
  15. Slight grind while coasting

yeah my thoughts exactly. Please tell me your findings when you do it, its just a bunch of plastic clips, I'm just too lazy to jack up the car again lol.
  16. UK now have the typeR

So jealous of all the UK goodies, I hope we can integrate some of this stuff here on our NA cars!
  17. Slight grind while coasting

very much so..... I wonder if its the metal pan that is under the engine. I removed it last week to get to my oil drain bolt and filter and I noticed how flimsy it was and the fact that it was only secured by plastic clips which will definitely vibrate. That or the heatshields on the various...
  18. Slight grind while coasting

I have a feeling it's a Heatshield or something under the hood because it's only noticeable at higher rpm. It doesn't seem to vary too much in frequency at higher rpm but it just seems to get louder. I also notice that it is much louder when the car is cold.
  19. My thorough walk around inspection of my new CW R-05163...

I will echo your comments on the black trim on the doors. I was polishing the car in preparation for the ceramic coating and noticed that they were extremely swirled. I went ahead with a lake country white pad and Sonax Perfect finish and it seemed to have gotten rid of most of the swirl...
