There are over 230 type Rs on autotrader alone. Hardly a supply issue. At this point there’s no issues locating them or obtaining one. They’re just playing stupid games. Some of these cars are sitting on dealer lots collecting dust. How can a dealer possibly justify adding a premium to a 2019...
How and why are dealers still trying to ad markups to these cars? So ridiculous. I see them listed all over autotrader for msrp, then you inquire and they hit you with the 5k dollar markup. Fuck outta here.
Oh hell no I didn't. I had an SRT Caliber. That sucker had the GETRAG tranny in it. I LOVED that car. It was kind of homely but man, it sounded great with a catless turbo back exhaust and it hauled ass. Kind of wish I still had it.
I will say, that if you had the money and didn't care about driving the car, you could leave it in the wrapper and tuck it into the corner of your garage and sit on it. Then if they stop making the Type R for US import it would definitely be worth it. Anyone else see this? Not a bad return on an...
This was Lundgren Honda that called me. He did say something rather interesting though. "if you are really interested and want to commit with a deposit we can talk about price....." Wonder if they are already seeing the writing on the wall......
This conversation seems to happen within every car community. Unless you bought a luxury sports car (Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc etc) the talk of resale or value is really kind of silly. Buy the car to enjoy it, drive it, and have a blast with it. If you bought it as an investment, you bought the...
I got a call from a local dealership today here in Massachusetts......"we have one coming in at the beginning of august, it's your's if you want it, but as you know, these cars are hot and every single honda dealership is getting premium pricing and we are asking 6k over sticker."
Thanks but...
You are correct, it was far greater a niche car than this, but what I am getting at is that once the hype dies down and something else hits the market or talk of something else arises, this car will just be another cool car to choose from when shopping around for vehicles in this class. I have...
I laugh so hard at people who think these cars are going to be as rare as hens teeth and worth double MSRP down the road. It's a honda. It's a cool honda, for sure, and i'd love to have one, but these cars are not going to be impossible to get. I remember back in 2008 when the SRT caliber came...
I was contacted by a dealership nearby regarding them receiving a second allocation. When I asked if they would be charging a premium I got the response of "YES ABSOLUTELY, EVERY dealership is!" I plan on keeping a close eye on this car and dealership so in 6 months I can go to them and say oh...
You absolutely do not want this. Trust me, especially if you plan on keeping the car for the longterm. As someone with a "rare" sports car, it sucks. There is exceptionally limited aftermarket, lots or random parts are nearly impossible to find, and some stupid things are so ungodly expensive...
I hazard to guess this is like the hellcat craze. Huge premiums, hard to get, couldn't get a dealer to tell you a straight answer. 6 months later, they're collecting dust on dealer lots and can't give em away. Now, they made roughly 12k hellcats in 2016, but still, there are a shit load of those...
See near me I can't even get that. They just say "sorry we sold ours and wont be getting anymore, try somewhere else." and most of these dealerships are extremely large, so the likelihood they are going to get another one is pretty high, but they're either just dumb or extremely uninformed.
That may very well be the case, but I just don't think any of the dealerships have any idea who's getting what, when and where.
The whole allocation game is obnoxious. They should just allow people to order the goddamn car. Sell as many as you can get orders for and no stupid games.
I don't necessarily think its that. I called 6 dealerships and they all seemed thoroughly convinced that they would not see a second one and did not even attempt to get my information so that if they did get a second one, they could try to sell it to me. Maybe it's just the region i'm in, but...
No idea, I don't have a car to look at but when I saw one at my local dealership I noticed that it looked "cheap" Wonder if anyone in the aftermarket world will offer a real deal replacement
