I just did the update, and the map loading into the car got to about 90% and then said update failed. Did it? Where can I check the map version in the car? This is what I see now:
Like the other posts, our 2016 and 2017 Civics have been starting just fine in the below 0F weather we've had the past few days. As others have stated, all lubrication is going to be a bit thick, so 30-60 seconds of warm-up, and then driving gently for a few minutes will be good. Also...
I don't remember specifically. It was within the time suggestions in the Garmin instructions. I'd guess the car was in Auxiliary mode for 20-40 minutes -- maybe less.
Thanks for the alert. I just finished updating mine. Worked fine using AUX mode, without starting the engine. [Just gotta make sure you don't drain your battery by letting it sit too long.]

I liked your idea, but saw the Sodee dock was out of stock, so I created a model and 3D printed something very similar in flexible filament.
For anyone interested, here is the model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2518752
I used my 3D Printer to create a wedge based on your dimensions, using flexible filament. In case anyone else wants to print it, here is a like to the model.

It is working great!

I have a 2017 Touring. With the subwoofer at the top setting, and bass set neutral, with the volume around 17, I get the vibration. I was hoping that the 2017 model year would have fixed it. Oh well, off to Home Depot this weekend.
I like that. I think I might try to model something similar and 3D print it. I sure do wish there was an easier way to quickly connect the lightning connector.
