You're not in recovery if your engine is running. Hitting yes would begin a recovery flash back to factory.
Likely your cable is loose so the ECU did not get a response to some data requests, but did to others, which is how it detects recovery mode.
Back in the old days you could throw a check valve and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator on a vehicle with a turbo added in order to make it "run". That's not properly tuned, but it will run.

It's an actual touch screen, not capacitive like your phone, so treat it as such. If you swipe as outlined on the tutorial videos it'll change pages as intended.

We have some datalogs from the customer, but you may be on to something. Loading factory boost levels does not cause the change, so potentially limiting lower gears could add some relief if this is caused by the ECU's boost control which integrates directly with the throttle control.

One of your starting tunes is labeled beta, which is the one you're complaining about. If you're unhappy with the beta option, don't use it. Use the non-beta option instead. Thanks for sharing!
