Ok so I've got it narrowed down somewhat now after messing around in the car last night - the issue only occurs if TouchID unlock is enabled. As soon as I turn that off and go to PIN only, the phone works normally like it did in iOS 9. I can plug it in unlocked and still have access to CarPlay without the error message. This is on a 6S - see if you see the same?

I'm likely getting a 7 next weekend (I have the upgrade plan thing where you get every new phone), will be interesting to see if the problem is there on it as well.

Great to know, does your speedo area show the turns in full graphics with warnings? and can you re-arrange icons - Thanks PS so Basically, if you want this security feature, just keep it enabled?

Interesting...

This potentially addresses the "compatible device" error but I wonder if it has any bearing on the "No Device Connected" that many of us get with iOS 10 after about two minutes of connecting it. I like TouchID so I'd be hard pressed to disable it myself.

I called Honda today on the compatibility of IOS10 and iPhone 7 and what they said was..."Not compatible at this time". And added Not fully "tested at this time".

So, your on your own with new software. Honda is usually as slow as a turtle on Xanax, due maybe next year sometime when they get to it...

FWIW, I couldn't go more than a day without a factory reset of my system with an iOS 9 iPhone, and I've not had a single freeze-up with the GM of iOS 10. I did have one of the "This is not an apple carplay compatible device" errors, but it didn't lock up the head unit like my daily experience with 9. I'm a believer!

I get the error message when plugging the phone in (first a 5S, now a 6S), but unplugging/replugging almost always works.

I've go to the "final" iOS 10
Build installed now and it seems to be significantly better than the developer beta 8, even though that doesn't make sense. Siri is much faster so I wonder if they were running the beta versions off different cloud servers.

iOS 10 is officially out!

go to settings > general > software update

should be there :)

edit: remember to backup before you update. Whether it's to the cloud or connecting to iTunes on your computer. Just in case!
