i uninstalled the apps completely from my phone. When it comes to Developer Beta Builds and Public Beta builds, the way they work is as follows: Apple will always produce a developer build (at least 1) without the corresponding public build following the "closed beta" approach. that way if something awful happens, the impact to the install base is less and also becuase the ones that get it are app developers. once they open the door and let the public betas out, they are based on the previously released developer beta. the differentiation is made with the profile that you installed on the phone. for the sake of disclosure i am using the developer beta
I was pretty sure that dev beta # is exactly the same as public beta "#-1" in this case. Like Dev Beta 6 is the same as Public Beta 5. Dev beta 1 was never available for the public, once dev beta 2 came out that was also released as public beta 1.

No improvement with PB6, disconnected within a minute of connection, ultimately requiring a restart of the iphone

the thing that is triggering my OCD is that i cannot make sense of the conditions that trigger the issue, other than it is ios 10. then after it gets disconnected and i reconnect it it stays connected.....

Apple is busy...

Another new iOS 10 beta drop today for PB7 / DP8. Will test PB7 on my way home today but if it is the same as DP7 then not optimistic it will do much. But you never know.

I conducted a 5 minute experiment out in the parking lot at work with PB7. It passed the 2-minute death test which I have not been able to get past for a couple of weeks. And while it might have been my imagination but the UI seemed snappier / quicker - but I suppose that is to be expected as they tighten up the code.

I'll try it out for real on my way home tonight.

What still doesn't work, and I mentioned it on another thread, is I can't treat my iPhone 6+ as an iPod by plugging it into the USB port in the center console. It stays forever on "Loading..." and never plays anything (although my iPhone believes it is playing). The car knows my iPhone is plugged in as when I disconnect it it goes from "Loading..." to "No Devices Connected." Also, when I plug in my iPhone, it launches the HondaLink app on my iPhone. But no music and no UI on the screen. Someone else on the other thread mentioned they were using the iOS 10 beta and that it worked for them so I am wondering if it is because I have a large (35000+ song) Apple Music library. I did let it try and load all the way from from work yesterday and it never worked. Anyone else have a library that large and trying to use their iPhone as an iPod?

Still the same problem with the latest build. the good thing is that i can connect it again and it works and i do not have to reboot the phone

Yeah...forgot to update my findings over the weekend but it quickly dumped me to "No device connected..." when using PB7 on my drive home Friday afternoon.

It does seem strange that it seems to work significantly better after failing initially. Don't know exactly where that puts the blame - be it Apple or Honda (or both). The fact that a reboot seems to solve the problem for most seems to indicate that it could be an Apple issue. Additionally, since I think we all felt it worked better in iOS 9 would also indicate an Apple issue. If this is the case, I'd be surprised if we see any more betas of iOS 10 and this may be as good as things get until we see a 10.0.1 or 10.1 or...

Curious, does anyone else know any other non-Civic CarPlay iOS 10 users who are having similar issues? If so, then I would feel much more optimistic that this will get resolved quickly as it would be a more global CarPlay problem. But if other non-Civic CarPlay iOS users are having better results than us then it might be a combo Apple / Honda issue which may make the ultimate resolution harder to pin down and certainly a longer wait for all of us.

Thanks for the Update RC.

I have been searching the web and people have been reporting disconnection issues with other car models so it is not specific to the civic and IOs 10 (IMO). having said that though, i do thing that the the behavior was better with IOS 9.x than with 10. i agre with you that this might be as good as it gets for us with IOS 10, since the apple event is already scheduled for next week. i will try with another cable after work just to see if the situation changes (not holding my breath though)

If other non-Civics are also having problems then that is reassuring as that means it is across the board and not just a Honda issue. I feel like it will be fixed faster than waiting for a firmware update from Honda.

I suppose Apple could have additional bug fixes between the latest Public Beta and the final release (GM). If we read that DP8 / PB7 becomes the GM then we are probably screwed for the short term but if there is no announcement of that and the GM turns out to be a different build then there is a glimmer of hope that things could get better before GM.

As I stated before, CarPlay was unusable IMO when it first came out in iOS 7.1 (??) when used with my Pioneer 4000NEX. But Apple was quick to fix most of the bugs and usability issues. So if this ultimately becomes a 100% Apple fix I feel like we will see it sooner rather than later...

...what I am less optimistic about is if and when we will see an "update" to allow us to see Apple Maps / CarPlay driving directions on the Driver Information Interface.
