So now that we know the standard coupe won't be released until March 2016, what do we think about the timing for the Si models? Recent rumors had the Si models coming in March, but I don't think that's happing now that the coupe is coming March. Think we'll see Si in Summer, or maybe even the Fall of 2016?

Hmmm, maybe we can look at the CivicVIII and CivicIX Si releases and interpolate something from them?

Generally 4-6 months after initial release. I'm expecting an announcement for the Si at the NY Auto Show.

I'm with you. And I think hatchback will probably be introduced in March at the March Geneva auto show. Makes sense for that car since it's the only model to be sold in Europe and there's no major European auto show until the Fall after Geneva.

So hopefully the schedule will be:

[March] Geneva Auto Show -- hatchback
[April] NY Auto Show -- Si coupe and sedan

That would leave just the Type R debut sometime after next Spring.

I can not wait to see how the SI will look like. So wait! How does the hatchback look like?

Just looking at the timeline for how Civic variations are being released I'd say by the time the Civic Coupe hits dealerships (in March) Honda will announce the SI models. They just did this exact same thing with the Coupe/Sedan launches. Sedans hit the dealerships, a week later the couple is announced. NYC autoshow starts March 25th. Just in time for a coupe dealership launch and a SI debut ;) I'd expect to see the SI models launched by mid summer or so. Just in time for me to get the Fusion paid off ;)

All I know is I'll need a car beginning of August next year. I wanted one earlier, but by August I will have to get something, and I sure hope the Si is out and available easily by then. Not looking great for my timing at this point as it is rare to find even two or three around me in general let alone a new model.

I tried very hard to purchase one two years ago and finally found a dealer with one. Called and confirmed it was there after 4pm and set an appointment to come see it at 11 the next day. Drove two hours to go see car with my down payment in my pocket. Got there early as was excited and ended up there at 9am. No Si. Anywhere. They could not find it, finally said they may have never had it. I was royally annoyed, they kept trying to show me other cars. Nope, I came for one vehicle that you assured me was here and you advertise online. I purchased another car (non Honda) that day.

I can't imagine trying to track down a new model just as its releasing. Right now on cars.com within 150 miles of me there are 1464 civics. 3 of them are Si, and all 110 mile away or more.

I think a 2016 Civic Si reveal at NY auto show in late March is probably a good guess. Consider too that there's no major US auto show after that until November 2016.

I think si will hit showroom floors in June, it wouldn't make sense to release a performance model in fall right before winter.

It's happened before... even convertibles launching in the winter time

But I think June is a good estimate since most are expecting an Si debut for New York Auto Show in March.

I believe you mean, "extrapolate," but yes, that would certainly be a reasonable approach to help identify a rough schedule for the X Si release. And if March is indeed when we should expect to see the new Si, that puts me in somewhat of a pickle since that's the when Tesla is scheduled to release their 3rd generation "Model 3". So many choices...

Surprised you're cross shopping the upcoming Si and the Model 3. Electric vs gasoline obviously, but the Tesla Model 3 will be priced $35k to start and goes up from there. The Si should be about same price as now - $23k. You could afford the upcoming Civic Type R for the price of the Model 3.

Actual pricing is around $27.5K once Fed rebate applies. But I'm also surprised anyone would cross-shop the Si with the Model 3. Seems like two completely different markets.

The Tesla Model 3 will be 'unveiled' in March 2016 and they will begin taking pre-orders at that time. But production won't begin until fall 2017. I was also interested in the Tesla Model 3, but the new Civic is here now and I didn't want to wait that long for the Model 3.
