The base VW GTI S with the manual and Performance Pack goes for about $27K. I'd think the Si would significantly undercut that, not to mention that it'll probably have a standard LSD. It's a no-brainer for me. Can't wait to hear what the Si will sound like.

Glad to see something finally. Looks great!!
Back when we had 99 Si, GSR, and ITR, we all knew the Si was the budget performer, GSR was basically the same in different packaging, and the ITR was a track performer. Back then, I liked handling but just wanted to go fast straight, and I had the Si,so it was fairly easy.

On second look I see electronic park brake, hill start assist, digital MPH display, and I'd estimate 7K redline.
The button on the right of the shifter- seat heaters? I can't make out what it says.
No park sensors, no LKA or LDW but it does have the lane change camera and rear backup camera. I wonder if these items will be available along with the LED headlights.
I couldn't tell if it had dual zone climate control but that is something I'd like.
Makes sense to see coupe first- excited to see the Sedan and TypeR!

Looks like the front end will mimic the front end of the hatchback with the larger "intakes" on the sides.

The wheels look nice. I see inspiration from the concept wheels.

We always knew the si would offer a manual. And this is the first/only mule we've seen so far. A dct sourced from Acura is still very much a possibility.

The seats look awesome. Super supportive and grippy. Glad they're cloth and glad they didn't do the red cloth like in the 9th gen si. Red accent stitching is fine, full on red seats is too much. lol.

Even if I still get the EXT model I may have to buy a set of Si rims/tires to upgrade the handling from the normal ext tires. Depends a lot on how much the Si increases in price and if they offer an auto option as to whether I'll go Si or stick with the EXT.

The si has always had features similar to the EX model civics and I expect this one to have a similar features list to the ext civic. That helps keep the cost down below the touring price. As well as some weight savings possibly. I expect the type R to offer more of the touring features like LED lights. But wouldn't be shocked to see the LED headlights make it to the final Si model (this is a mule after all) or possibly as an optional add on.
This is completely off topic, but if I wanted to get my future 2016 civic coupe EX-L front, to look like the front of your profile picture, how would I go about doing that? I don't know much about cars lol... All I know is that I'm not a fan of that silver in the front/silver linings and want it blacked out or replaced or what ever lol.

You're right, Si will be more sporty than Touring because it's suppose to be the next trim which makes Touring below it.. so why downgrade now? LOL

Look at the Focus ST. It is priced less than a Titanium version which is Fords version of the Touring. Why? Because they know there are a lot of people (kids) that want performance, but without the options, they see as nothing but extra weight.

Doubt youll be able to get Honda Sensing because its a manual. In Canada, you can get Accord Touring I4 in Manual and if you do, you'll lose Honda Sensing as well and Honda likes pushing sensing on the top trims. From what I also see from the pics, it has the 10 speaker audio system because of the center channel. Dual HVAC, red gauges seen on overseas models, a sport button where the econ button is. Last gen shift knob, NO chrome trim or indicators on the side mirrors, no chrome door handles, No auto dim mirror but this is only a test mule so shit might change.

Dope car though and Im digging those seats but this car is going to be borderline too expensive in Canada. So it might actually hit low 30k for us after taxes -__-

Hopefully (most likely) it'll have aluminum pedals so we can do a 'proper; swap onto our regular models, and now since they've ditched the Si logo on the steering wheel, I can swap mine out to red stitching once my original one wears out and it won't look tacky either.

In Canada, the Si is routinely priced above the top line Civic with all the features unlike the US where pricing is near the EX-EX-T range. We've have auto HVAC in the 9th gen model and heated seats. In the US, they might actually be pushing the Touring and Si as equals to let consumers choose between sporty or premium at near equal pricing.

Honda Sensing not available on a manual because it just won't work. Imagine ACC slowing you down or especially CBMS kicking in - it'd stall the car!

To option an Audi or 3 series like the Honda.....you will be $15-$20k more than the $30,000 Type R. The Type R would spank either of these vehicles on the track. Neither the Si or R will be wired for the comfort that Audi or BMW bring. Also to get a manual transmission in either of these cars you will have to spend more as manual transmissions are only offered in the 340 Xi and up for BMW and require moving to the Type S for the Audi. Both of these step ups in models add substantial cost as both are tied to larger engines as well. Dollar for dollar.....the Si and Type R performance will be difficult to beat.
The current version of the Si and the type R (is) are NOT better performing vehicles than the 3 series or the Audi S3. The braking and handling of the 3 series is amazing and the current gen Si doesn't even compare.
Edit: Looked into the Type R and its a pretty good machine but that is on track performance and I wont be tracking my car ever.
Since you're talking performance dollar for dollar: Do you think the current 2.0 turbo to be fitted in these cars is better than the 330i or the Audi 2.0 tfsi PP or even the 370z?
The 370 Z comes with a manual transmission with nothing fancy. Honda needs to be realistic.

once the actual car comes out we will see I guess.

Not bad!
My old car broke down while waiting for the Si so I went with the GTI and I freaking love that car so I can't say I'm disappointed, but, as long as they give the Si decent HP, lighting options, and a spoiler it should be pretty solid!
Not a huge fan of the exhaust for some reason like others are though. It doesn't really fit without a sportier look.
