This has been a really shitty point for me. If they have VTEC, why do they only talk about having cam phasing VTC? If they don't have REAL VTEC then WHY WOULD YOU LIE TO US LIKE THIS HONDA?!?!?!

Probably the marketing fools didn't consult engineering and said "better get a sweet VTEC sticker yo"

So basically USA may in fact have the same 201 hp version of the engine.. Since there's no "Real" VTEC.. I'm assuming Honda is calling it VTEC because it has variable timing? The 201 hp figure could just be in the tune alone.. Would be great for us actually if our engine is identical for parts down the road (broader range of available upgrades)..

Unless i'm confusing that the 201 hp Euro version of our engine actually has VTEC and the other 1.5T variants don't..

Look at the 0-60 elapsed times people are getting...it's generating at least 201HP or more....

For instance my MSO stated that the shipping weight of my EX-T 's was 2841 (with maybe 5 gallons in the tank).
If you add my weight this bring it to 3080 and having a full tank probably makes it 3,100 pounds.
There is no way 174HP will propel the 3,100 pound EX-T on a level road from 0 to 60mph in what I've timed at 6.9, 7.05, 7.15 seconds.

Yeah, I think they underrated the HP to keep insurance down a little. That, and to not overlap on existing Si sales.

Im assuming that these 1.5 turbo engines are underrated for insurance purposes. At least in the states. My car is rated at "174 hp and 162 lb-ft". I have a hard time believing these are the "actual numbers". She sure pulls harder @ WOT, then these suggest. Easily out pulls an 9th gen civic SI. As for a "VTEC turbo, that doesn't exist here. North American 1.5 turbos do not have "VTEC". They might in a different market but not here. No need. Makes power in the low end up to the high midrange. Sure is alot different then Honda's from the prior. Shit even stock S2000's only made 153 lb-ft of torque at 7200 rpm. I remember asking my dad why the "red car" had to be pushed so hard to go fast. Now I know lol. Still an awesome vehicle btw.

And my car just crept up to 42.0 avg lifetime MPG per the trip computer. And I'm the first off the line at every light. And I'm rarely over 2k RPM.

Honda definitely underrated this thing - and I love 'em for that :)
