Why no 2016 Civic break in period needed?

Didn't want to clutter up the other thread about oil changes. So it sounds like there's no break-in period needed on the 2016 Civic. Most other cars still have a recommended breaking-in period so why doesn't the Civic need it? Has the engine already been broken in at the factory?

I can only guess at this. Regular break-in period on internal combustion engines is required to allow the machined parts to wear-in to each other, specifically piston to cylinder wall. To make production economical, parts are machined a little coarse and grooves remain on the surface. This creates higher friction and heat so varying the RPM, adding more oil to the fuel mix (two stroke) or richer fuel mixture helps during the break-in period. Maybe Honda has a more refined machining or polishing procedure and the parts don't heat-up as much as they used to. Maybe the fuel injection system automatically pumps in more fuel for a while. I'm sure someone on this site will have the answer.

Saw this while reading the manual on page 403:

During the first 600 miles (1,000 km) of operation,
avoid sudden acceleration or full throttle operation so
as not to damage the engine or powertrain.

Avoid hard braking for the first 200 miles (300 km).
You should also follow this when the brake pads are
replaced.

Talk about TL;DR. I remember when you could read the OM for a new Honda the night you brought it home. 580+ pages in this one. That's crazy.

Interesting, so there is a recommended take it easy period then. Not like most break-in period recommendations that give you a certain RPM to stay under, but still they tell you to take it easy :)
