finally had some work to do so got to drive the civic for the first time in a week, car cranked over just like it was driven the day before, now one of my other cars the battery went bad from sitting so long, ended up bubbling over while on the trickle charger outside of the car, after that experience I would be hesitant to leave a battery in the car while connected to a tender myself.

I just checked & my 2018 EX has a 410 CCA battery. I drove it at least once a week in the winter without a problem.

I've had it sit for 3 weeks in the cold winter and it started right up. I'm not too worried as temps are in the 50s here. You're just giving me an excuse to go driving.

I noticed mine showed signs of drained battery. This is what I am doing here in CA, I disconnected my dash cam since car is parked in garage, and once a week I take my car out for a 5-10 mile joy ride, but I don't get out of the car and don't let anyone in. When I am back home the battery has about 14.4 voltes according to my meter.

PS: There are some deals for battery conditioners/chargers on amazon, but Amazon shipping speed has slipped due to COVID19, so you might get it a bit later than usual.

I'm trying to stop the the Wuhan virus from killing the battery in my CR-V. It's a Honda OEM 31500-SR1-100M, same group 51R as the civic and I want to see how long it can last. It was installed in November 2013, so by Easter it will be 6 years and 5 months since then. Wife has been working from home and when I took the CR-V for a ride after a little over one week of sitting in the garage, the starting was a bit anemic. So I put it on Battery Tender.

She's a classic
Perfect in every way
One of a kind
Now that's what my daddy would say

"Hang on to her, boy
With all your might
She's got so much to give
If you treat her right

"In a world where things are changing fast
Ain't too many things that are made to last
Hang on to her, boy
They don't make them like that anymore"

She's a beauty
The kind you don't see every day
Yeah, she's timeless
Well, that's what my daddy would say

Here is a thread on the Canadian batteries going from 550 to 650.
https://www.civicx.com/threads/oem-updated-canadian-battery-2016-2018-civic-all-models.41082/

The only number I could find on mine is without deinstalling the battery:
Group 31500 - T
Rather than a 550 to 650, this original battery says it is a 410 amp.
This is a 2018 with "very low" mileage.

I just checked the battery on my 2018 Hatchback. It appears to be a 450A battery.
That said, the Hatchbacks are built in the UK, while the Sedan and Coupe are a combination of Canada/US.

EDIT: Oh, Hatchbacks should have a 650 CCA battery too? Well...okay then...

On the majority of modern vehicles that possess sophisticated technology, will require a minimal amount of energy - even when the vehicle is not in use. It's not the batteries at all.

My 2018 EX-L was made in Japan. Supposedly the USA plant stopped making sedans & production went to Japan. From what I could find out the USA plant switched over to making SUVs because they were so popular, But then someone supposedly had a 2018 with a production date later than mine & it was a USA car. Not sure what's going on at this point.

Mine has been only driven two to three times a week since we've been on lock down. I can still go for a drive, and still drive down the coast once a week since the weather has been beautiful (assuming that's because Mother Earth is finally getting a break from humans polluting her). The weather here in Pacifica, 10 minutes south of San Francisco, has been in the low to mid 60s, if that matters.

Every few days on my lunch break I take my Type R out for about an hour excursion, one to give it it's exercise, and two, because it gets me out of the house. On the weekends I take it out for longer distances.

I do anticipate there might be more demand for car batteries when it's over, because many already weak batteries will die.

As a rider, mine sits for a good time (spring/summer/fall/some winter) now and then, usually will take it out when I go to friends, like out of town/state or heavy food shopping.

Taking mine out almost every day (unless it rains) on a short route I have, the highways over here in Jersey are so empty that it's hard to not take advantage of it lol.

Always good practice to give a vehicle a little run.

I'm in UK, so it's TOTAL lockdown apart from essential food / medical supplies unless you're part of Emergency crews / essential support.

I often travel internationally for work, so am obliged to leave it for up to 5 weeks.
I regularly leave the A/C on anyway - my commute is less than 30 minutes and a mixture of traffic up to 70mph.

When approaching home - or original destination - I'll systematically shutdown peripherals - heated rear window, heated seat intensities, etc - such that I can leave the battery as highly charged as possible .... deep breath!!

After all that, I've never had a problem with my 10G .... so far.
It's been over a week since I last fired her up, so will have to tomorrow - should be fine on previous observations - normally leave at cold idle for 1 minute, then start increasing once the revs decrease ... after 2 minutes I'll increase to 2k revs (1.5T 4C motor) and hold for perhaps 2 minutes to approach warming up - without wasting too much fuel.

Normally, if 'storing for an offshore trip' I'll pump up the tyres over-pressure to limit 'flat-spotting' them.
Not doing that this time around, in case I need to use the car suddenly. Over-pressure (38-40 psi instead of 32, nothing HUGE) can save tyres but also be dangerous - smaller contact patch obviously ...

My $0.02.

Keep safe everyone - we'll get through this.

Al.
