It looks like a breaker bar with an adaptor that would be used to connect 1/2” drive tools to 3/8” sockets. The drain plug is simply a 3/8” square so any extension with a 3/8” inch square will work. You don’t need a special tool.

It's a "breaker bar" that accepts 3/8" drive sockets. Basically its just like using a really long handle socket wrench to give you leverage to remove tight nuts and bolts.

In that second pic, the person is just using a regular 3" extension on the 3/8" drive breaker bar. Looks like that square end fits into the drain plug.

Both plugs use 3/8 inch square. The fill plug is deep,so the long extension is needed. The breaker bar just gives you longer handle for leverage. If you don't have breaker bar, use the 3/8 socket.

Just need a 3/8 extention and either a breaker bar or a ratchet and a pipe. It's very easy. Make sure you open the fill plug first!

Love that Amsoil when it comes to trans fluid. I recently changed my rear diff in my IS350 using Amsoil Severe Gear oil 75W-90 and it really made things smooth and made response off the line feel slightly better. Around 80K I will be changing out my ATF with Amsoil OE trans fluid, I was able to pick some up a few months back (4 gallon pack) on Amazon for half what you would get it on their site

Let us know when you change it if it made a noticeable difference

Do we need to remove anything to get to the fill plug or can the extension do the job without removing anything?

I don't think so but I was running a CAI so I had plenty of room. Should be able to get to it though... With a long enough extension.

Ok I was asking because I had a look and can’t see it so I assumed the air box had to come out

Airbox doesn't need to come out but you will need a funnel that can clear the airbox, or even easier, some tubing that you can poke into the fill hole...
