Wow.. You used that little? And there was no NVH?

Does it always remain in a gel-like form? Do you think we should apply more?

What brand did you use? Which would you recommend? Thanks a lot for the pictures.. Appreciate it!

I was thinking of using the polyurethane spacers to absorb the vibrations... But this looks like a better bet!

Applied a light coat on both sides. Result was zero increase in NVH. Even at idle with AC full blast. The 62A is so unnoticeable I’ve contemplated trying a harder durometer, but have not yet done so.
Don’t anticipate having to do so, but if I ever do find the NVH increasing, will just pull the RMM, clean and apply a little more.

Boosted180sx can further attest to this. He is a super respected forum member and visited shortly afterwards and drove my car to confirm.

FWIW I also used this to lube the Acuity Shifter cable bushings and my Acuity Full Shifter is smooth as butter.

Pretty sure any non-hardening silicone lube would do the trick. But this is what I used:

Which part of the shifter did you apply the lube for the again? Just the cable bushings? Which part?

Just curious... Did you apply the lube after trying out the Acuity shifter or before installing and trying it out?

As in were the shifts a little rough and then became "buttery smooth" after the application of the lube?

I installed the shifter cable bushings (1) week before the Acuity Fully Adjustable shifter went in. Have had fellow Acuity owners note the difference and improvement in feel compared to theirs, and the only real difference is the bushings and lube. Paul Blankenship AROSC driving instructor and former professional race car driver, noted it was one of the best shifters he’s ever experienced after he drove my car with me riding shotgun last month at Willow Springs. It’s notable he has driven 100’s of cars. Maybe 1000’s heh.

I applied O-ring lube / non hardening silicone to the outside surfaces of the bushings before inserting to the metal rings. I was previously a maintenance mechanic in a power plant and it’s good practice to apply lube to rubber to protect it against hardening and long term cracking. Didn’t expect it to enhance the performance of the shifter or RMM, but it has. Will likely re-apply at some point in time as a periodic preventative maintenance item.

Imagine this would benefit whichever shifter or RMM is installed.

Sounds awesome... Thanks again fatherpain. I did get the shifter cable bushings and the full shifter set, from Acuity, too... Just haven't installed it yet hah!
Thank God for that... So I guess i gotta get some non-hardening silicone lube now b4 doing the install...
How often do you recommend doing the re-apply? Guess you're the best person to ask. haha.

Hi fatherpain, just one more quick question. I got the 27won RMM.
The Hasport has polyurethane on both sides(I think.. could be wrong.) BUT the 27 Won has it only on 1 side... so NVH is probably going to be an issue on the metal side more than the polyurethane side... any ideas what to do for the other side?

Do you think these decoupling washers WITH the lube would do the trick? https://www.designengineering.com/decoupling-washers/

I’d recommend applying O-ring lube to the one side of the 27Won. You could try one of those washers with lube. They appear thin so don’t think it would hurt anything, other than it’s not 27Won’s original design intent. Can always remove it, if doesn’t work out.

The Hasport has polyurethane on two surfaces, top and bottom. .

Read above, NOTHING is going to remove the resonance/vibration with the 27won mount. They are perfect for their intended use and are effective in reducing wheel hop. But you will have vibration. If you can live with it this is a quality product! For 95%....maybe more of the FK8 owners the simple insert will absolutely give the desired results for way less money. Spend the $30.00 and see if it works out for you. If not move to the Hasport as recommended above. If you want hard-core racecar feels go for the 27won. My car is nice weather daily that does get some aggressive driving and I'm perfectly happy with the inserts.

Hi fatherpain.. just a quick question if you don't mind - why not put those washers at the "metal" end of the RMM as well? Do you feel it'd just get ripped up? haha
