I like that boost Blue, but it looks like nobody selling it yet near me. I need to be patient anyways...

Anyone got any advice on how to negotiate with dealers? I called a dealer with the car and he was trying to sell me it with a ton of options. I just ended the conversation since he said he wasn't going to sell it stock.

Maybe show him the newspaper headlines with record unemployment figures? I'm only half joking.

Personally, I'd tell him you are ready to buy, but really don't want any options, and tell him to call you when he's ready to sell, and that you are going to continue your search. If you are a cash buyer, don't tell him that up front. They make more money if you finance it.

Will you travel to get one? I understand flights are scarce but many places are MSRP (some claim 19's for less than MSRP!). As others have said, just be honest with them. Tell them you are not paying more than MSRP and can travel to get one but would prefer to buy local. Maybe others have better suggestions. If the markup locally is more than a cheap flight out of state, it's probably not worth paying it. Shame you can't easily find one at MSRP locally.

If the options are ones on your deal breaker list, then walk away. Dealers are not likely to "remove" options. Otherwise, negotiate the price for the car and the options separately. Offer them the wholesale part prices for the options not paying any installation costs. Another advice is even if you manage to negotiate a deal with a dealer for MSRP, you still have to ask and make sure they don't install any options on the car before you walk in.

I negotiated a price for my SI over email and when I walk in, they showed me a price with additional $799 for rubber trunk mat, splash guard, and wheel locks. Since I needed the wheel locks anyway and don't mind having the other two, I demanded $500 off and they agreed. So I ended up getting three options that I need or don't mind having for the wholesale price for the parts only.

Talk to the sales manager at the dealership. If that goes nowhere, move on. Cars are out there at good prices, Be prepared act (“I’m a buyer at $xxx) and be willing to ship the car to you.

I spoke to the general manager about the 2020 in Florida he said he’d go 42,500 out the door without much haggling it was:

“The MSRP without the addendum is 37950, dealer fee is 998, electronic filing fee is 207.50, the accessories is 750 + sales tax.” = $42,500 OTD”

Telling I wasn’t overly impressed and it would be a stock daily driver he then said make an offer and I told him I’d get back to him. He said he would remove the pin stripes for my destain of them also.

So if anyone is interested go for it. My GF is still undecided as she would use the new purchase as much as me likely more, so if your looking for a 2020 PMM in the Florida area or want one shipped to you he offered me shipping as well - feel free to jump in if your interested in it.

38000 + 1000 + 200 = 39200. 39200 * 1.0575 = 41454, so you're paying maybe 1000 bucks for the accessories (incl. tax). Keep in mind that this is assuming a 5.75% sales tax. I'm not sure what the dealer fee is though. Without anything attached I'd honestly expect the car to go out the door for around 40k.

Just MSRP and sales tax For me is $40,839 + filing fee $207.50 = $41,076.75.

37990 * 5.75% = 40,174.43 + 207.50 = $40,381.93

that’s sticker plus sales tax and filing fee only. Sales tax varies state to state and county to county in some states.

Response to dealer fee was:

“The dealer fee covers destination and delivery, the dealerships mortgage and light bill, the receptionist, the lawn guy, full tank of fuel and full detail”

Honda doesn’t load these up from the factory with accessories or options the only factory option is wheel locks on this one.

I am wondering if you got any financing deals on this. I have heard that Hyundai/Chrysler are doing 0% interest for 84 months (something like that) and I heard rumors that other manufacturers are jumping in as well.

Didn't discuss financing. Honda's website will cover any financing incentives they have going on which any and all would likely exclude the Type-R.
