Yeah. I’ve really liked the new Lexus designs aesthetically that hav come out the last few years. I’ve had 5 Zs and a Xterra. I’d like to say I’m a Nissan guy but it’s hard to be excited over their lineup. I’m waiting for a new 300z (supposedly powered by their 400hp 3 liter VR engine) but I have a feeling I’m going to be let down if it looks anything like what they’ve been releasing the last decade or so. I thought the 370z was a faddish bloated refresh of a 350z. That pinched rear end with the fender flares screams “muffin top” to me.
I don’t look too bad to me
But I always liked low roof line coupes anyway

Yeah, it is a nice looking car. in my college days my friend had a 300ZX, when we would go out, me and my girlfriend would be cramped together in the back, which I thought was awesome!

I had a 280z (not zx... it was still a small S30 car) for a year or two. Fun little car. I had it and this 300zx for an overlap period. I’d thought of sticking an LS-engine in it... and ultimately passed it along to a friend who still has it and has done a heck of a restoration on it. Makes me think I should have stuck with it. He’s kept the old L28 engine in it... and it’s looking very clean these days.

RegularCars does a review on the 240Z, it looks a lot like the one in the pic

Also MAPerformance
182 hp at the wheels probably equates to about 214 at the crank so, yes, the stock Si is underrated (but not by much). On a dyno run, my Si produced 210 whp which is probably pushing 247 hp or so at the crank. This is with a Hondata +9 psi tune and a K&N cold air intake.

A 15% drive train loss on fwd cars made in the past 15 years isn't really a reality anymore, its typically under 10%. Technology, lighter rims/materials and the SAE Certified Power test has helped changed that. A good example of that was the RSX-S which went from 210hp in 2005 to 201Hp in 2006, though nothing was changed in the engine. From personal experience, my 01 200bhp Prelude put down 171whp, and my 07 197bhp Si did 182whp on the same dyno. I'd actually consider a 214bhp Si a bit overrated.

Good point re: the increased drive train efficiency over the past few years. The dyno run was done in the spring (not on winter gasoline), on a clear, dry day with a relatively cool ambient temp, a fully warmed but not hot engine and only a single run was done. Using the 10% drive train loss number does lower the estimated crankshaft h.p. from my original estimate. Thanks for info.

I most definitely can compare rates between cars like that because its the 1998 Civics that are overall #1 in theft, not any Civic made in the past 20 years:https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimgor...en-new-and-used-cars-in-the-u-s/#5d6cd94e5258 They are easy to steal due to a lack of an immobilizer, which any Civic made in the past 20 years now has. The Si wasn't even made in the US in 1998. Fact of the matter is, the Si's insurance rate is high because owners of those cars have trouble running into things: https://www.autoinsurance.org/which-auto-makes-get-in-the-most-fatal-accidents/

This underrating hp for insurance nonsense needs to die, the mass majority of Civics sold aren't even an Si. For joyriding, thieves prefer much more powerful cars, hence the Charger and Challenger being the most stolen cars these days.
I would agree with the majority of what you've said. Stolen Civics have declined. It usually doesn't change insurance much. Once the ratings for a car causes it to go up, it usually stays up. ;)

2005 and up rsx type s have aggressive camshaft and it respond to mods very well compare to 2004 and down rsx type s

The difference in power between the 2005 and
2006 RSX has nothing to do with the mécanics.
It,s about the way of measuring that has changed.
It has been decided that, from now on, the hp will
be 746 w instead of 736 w. Therefore, all engines,
of all brands, lost 3 to 4% on paper, but, in reality, they
were as powerful as a few days earlier. I remember
that the CRV lost 5 hp.
Coming back to the SI, the power is hardly underestimated
but the torque is more : 10 to 15 %
