Big shout out to everyone at AWE! I've had tons of compliments on the sound of my car and personally I love it too! It was fairly easy to install. Also, the shipping was pretty quick, the quality was as pictured, and I've really enjoyed driving with this exhaust. I've owned 7 civics. All but one had exhaust and this exhaust takes the cake. Thanks again y'all! Great work.
What a compliment! Thank you kindly. We're happy you're lovin' it! Let's hear it.

Just had the AWE Touring Edition with Triple Black Tips installed on my FK8 the other day. My primary use case is daily driving, but I will probably head to the track when the season starts. Here are some of my thoughts so far.

  • I wanted something that was a little louder than stock exhaust. Nothing too crazy, but also something more aggressive than "OEM+" if that makes sense. Just enough sound to make it feel like I'm driving a performance car.
  • I looked at most of the exhausts out there. After some research I arrived at 27won, Awe Touring, Borla and Remus. Watching clips of YouTube is somewhat helpful, but I don't think the clips I've seen anywhere is going to match the sound you experience in real life. So it makes for a difficult shopping experience. In the end it was between Awe Touring and Remus, the latter being a bit too expensive for my need and I didn't want to deal with Bluetooth.
  • Loving the look of the black triple tips. Much nicer than Honda's triple tips.
  • I love the sound. I've changed the way I drive and I find myself driving at lower gears now. Only done 100 miles so it's far from broken in yet. It's so much fun! I just want to go for rides all the time. It feels amazing.
  • It might be uncomfortable for some people driving at 60-70 miles in 6th. I don't think it's as bad as a few people said in this thread. I'd down shift to mitigate some of the deeper sounds if it bothers you.
  • It sounds slightly different with back seats down.
  • My mechanic skimmed over the instructions and missed the part about removing the heat shield to install front pipe. I had to point it out when I saw him bring out a hammer. I also had rattles because the clamps were installed incorrectly. Read Step 26 to avoid rattles. After explaining the issue it was fixed in 10 minutes and I inspected the point where the rattle came from and it was now installed properly. Check out page 13 and 14 in this thread for photos of what a correct install looks like.
  • It doesn't pop as much as I hoped for on decel, but I'm not sure if any exhaust system for FK8 does that.
  • The muffler sits a bit closer to the ground than OEM. Might be a problem if you slam your car. Shouldn't be an issue with a small drop.
  • Got a small discount by reaching out MAperformance on this forum :)
  • It's my favorite mod so far next to PRL Intake and wheels. Yes, I would recommend this to anyone who's on the fence. It's is great.

Thanks for your thoughts man! Definitely interested in this, but was worried about the lower muffler. I'm not lowered, but this car is destined for daily drive 365 all seasons. Worried about the clearance compared to the rest of the car, and how that would impact driving in winter :(.

As for the drone, you wouldn't happen to have any footage of it on the highway would you?

I don't think any footage is going to do it justice. The best way to explain cruising on highway between 60-70mph is: It's like OEM, but a little louder. By no means as bad I thought it was going to be after reading some people's experiences here. Either way, if you think that will bother you, stick with OEM. It's not a drone. Just a bit louder/deeper than OEM. I wouldn't have a problem doing a road trip with this exhaust.

(Also no need to quote a wall of text. :D)

I'm assuming you aren't rocking an aftermarket downpipe? It's pretty brutal with a downpipe imo (highway cruising). I absolutely love the exhaust anytime I'm not cruising. It sounds mean!

Has anyone had the rattle up front? Sounds like either the metal pan or the heat shield... only on decel at 1500 rpm tho.

You could be hearing the wastegate. If not, just ensure nothing around the exhaust is making contact from when it was reinstalled.

No rattles up front for me. The clearance is pretty good up front. Maybe the metal undertray is a little loose?
