Ok, first post so dont murder me for formatting stuff. I am the proud owner of a 16 civic coupe EX-T. I love this little car to death and have been driving it for about 8 months now. Recently I bought a ktuner 1.2 and put it on the 21 lbs boost base tune it comes with and messed with a few of the quick select options. Love it and it's a completely differnt car. Last summer I took out all the exaust up to the down pipe and have been running it open for several months now with no problems. These two did not conflict with each other. Yesterday I changed the spark plugs on the car and had no issues running it, it no longer ran rough while at a stop in drive. This morning I get up to go get breakfeast and when under hard acceleration the exaust pops rythmicly. It gets more intense and jerks the higher I rev. I have no idea what the issue is but I'm going to go make sure the spark plugs are in correctly, what can I do to fix this or did I fuck my car? Please help.

Everything was fine.
You changed your plugs.
Then they were not fine.

Pull and read your plugs. Verify they were the proper plugs in the first place and gapped properly. Post pictures of them on here if you’d like. Plan on buying replacement OEM plugs and reinstalling at a minimum... or reinstalling your old plugs if they’re still on hand. Eliminate the variable.

I can’t advise further until you undo the last thing you did that made the car run badly and not knowing whether you used the proper plugs... gapped and installed properly. It is, however, the smoking gun.

He did state "it no longer ran rough while at a stop in drive"

Sounds like there was an issue which prompted the plug change.

Agreed with double checking your work but if there isnt any issue with the plugs or install of the plugs, then you will be looking at other issues...

With the delete of the entire exhaust system back to the DP you could have many issues that we cannot diagnose with the description. The exhaust stream is/was interupted and you are obtaining less velocity from it. You won't breathe as well for one and the turbo is working much harder. The heat alone could be radiant enough to have scored through a sensitive wire in the engine bay.
It nice to be "COOL", but hopefully you learn your lesson from this (or not).

The approach described by @charleswrivers is absolutely the right one. The plugs are likely the culprit. Occam's razor. However, if not that...

This jumped out at me too.

OP - you said:

have been running it open for several months now with no problems.
But you also said:

it no longer ran rough while at a stop in drive.
So - was it running poorly before you changed the plugs? What prompted you to change them?

Why not return it to stock, then see how it runs.

Am I reading this correctly? You ran your car for months without an exhaust? Not even the front pipe? Just blowing straight out the down pipe? Geeze. How could you possibly stand that for that long? Start with the spark plugs like Charles said but also put your fucking exhaust system back on. Delete your muffle / resonator if your trying to be loud and proud. Good luck and keep us posted.

It was probably running rough because, without the exhaust, there of a lack of exhaust backpressure.

I also wonder if it now has a misfire?

I can't tell if you're being completely helpful or facetious. :D But I can say it's a good place to start. Plug gaps may be altered when the parts person or stock kid in the store drops them on the ground.

Hey look, that plug gap is no longer what it's supposed to be. Lesson should really be, always inspect the plug gaps, regardless of pre-gapped plugs. ;)

Great plug, Charles.
