Not to get too political but I think we can all agree most politicians suck from both parties. Having said that, in this case, the Democrats were right to temporarily block the stimulus package. It will pass and pass soon but it was too skewed towards the business sector and not the average Joe. I think that was the sticking point for the Dems.

Here's the latest on what Democrats are saying they want included ...

Among the outstanding issues Democrats were still pressing for, Schumer said, were a "significant increase in money for the health care system" and policies that put "workers first" like restrictions and oversight on funds for corporations.

"The few outstanding issues, I don't see any that can't be overcome within the next few hours," he said.

Schumer said, "we are very, very pleased with what seems to be moving forward in the bill," before adding details of the measure. He said it includes:

  • "unemployment insurance on steroids"

  • "If you lose your job in this crisis, you can be furloughed by your employer. That means you stay on that -- you stay on that employer's work list if you have health benefits with the employer, you can keep getting them."

  • "The federal government will pay your salary, your full salary for now four months. We had asked for four months and four months looks like what we’re going to get when we come to this agreement."

I totally agree on the idiocy of the toilet paper frenzy. Fact is, it's used at the wrong end to prevent the virus. It's definitely the apocalypse mentality. Or maybe people are creating masks with it.
nothing to do with "preventing" the virus, it started in Australia after the fires some idiot said something about how there might be a lack of toilet paper so everyone in Australia collectively lost there shit and panic bought TP and then comes the virus and after hearing about Australia everyone here thinks the same could happen to TP so they made it a self fulfilling prophecy by buying up all the TP, people are stupid sheep and don't know what they are doing so they focus in on something they think they can control and next thing you know shelves are empty from Panic Buying.

Except that is to little to late, people are already being fired because the Democrats dicked around so long and it ignores the issue that these companies are hemorrhaging money and if they don't get assistance there won't be jobs for people to go back to when it's over. I say we just vote out EVERYBODY, both sides come the November election, get all new people in there, maybe that will teach them to stop fucking around and get on the same page.

True. They are all guilty. But why do they have to disagree now when the stimulus is needed? Shows they don't give a fk about anyone but themselves.
I agree, by the time they are done disagreeing, this might so be over. My major concern is they I keep hearing us people on disability might not get anything, in live off 1400.00 a month and I really need this at the moment.
And not for car parts or any other entertainment purposes unfortunately

You clearly missed the humor aspect of what I was saying. Everyone knows it's the same reason people buy 48 rolls of toilet paper when there's 2 inches of snow. It's a "peace of mind"/panic thing.

Actually the bigger issue was the fact the government, especially the executive branch, dicked around with our lives by being so slow to react to the pandemic.

While many politicians suck, we can agree even more readily that some are naturally aspirated, and some suck way more than others, like they had a quadruple turbo. What he is saying is to say the least, lacking candor or misleading. They asked for things related to green huge deals, abortion funding and all their usual victimology laundry list that has nothing to do with the current emergency. What's the most perfidious, they took advantage in the last moment of the fact that several of their opponents are in quarantine. Otherwise, this would not even happen. They are just trying to milk the pandemic to win their standard political agenda they can't get by the regular ways. But this is no big deal, just another mistake in a long string, that will cost them in the end.

During a snow storm stores are still open and people are still driving driving around in the snow

Perhaps if the republicans actually collaborated across the aisle to draft this bill it would have passed already. Instead, they decided to create their own bill without asking the other side for their input and then people like you blame the democrats for not passing it

Neither side is free of blame. It's Political Gamesmanship 101: load up a critically important piece of legislation with unrelated bits that hew to each party's particular agenda, and then squabble over those items ad nauseum. Meanwhile, relentlessly slam the other side in the press for their refusal to compromise. Then, eventually, meet somewhere in the vicinity of the middle. That said - I do think something will be voted on and actually approved in short order. Congress is under enormous pressure to get the stimulus package out there ASAP, and neither side wants to be viewed as the roadblock to relief. Certainly not during a crisis like this.

Despite the seemingly endless bickering and wrangling, I'll bet they agree on a package by tomorrow.

I vote we repay their dicking around by voting out every incumbent on both sides starting with the November election, teach these politicians if they can't work together for the people they represent they get to wonder where their income will come from like we are now.
