Honestly there's no real reason to buy "luxury" other than name recognition. You can get many of the "comfort" and "features" from a "regular" brand car.

Remember, a CVT has the ability to be perfectly at the power band providing maximum power until it's reached its minimum gear ratio that it could provide. This, of course, assumes the CVT is programmed to do this and doesn't have those fake shifts in there (I believe low-gear mode may get rid of that).

That being said, the power to weight ratio is still considerably off.
  • Si = 205 HP, 2900 lbs -> 14.1 lbs/HP*
  • Sport = 180 HP, 2900 lbs -> 16.1 lbs/HP*
  • Camry V6 = 301 HP, 3500 lbs -> 11.26 lbs/HP
  • Accord 2.0T = 252 HP, 3400 lbs -> 13.49 lbs/HP*
We do know that in a lot of cases that Honda's advertised power numbers are low, in some cases to the point where their wheel horsepower can be nearly their advertised and in some cases even higher. We know that the Accord 2.0T and Camry have a very similar quarter mile and 0-60 time, which would suggest that the Accord 2.0T has a higher crank HP than advertised, or the Camry has a much lower crank HP that advertised (assuming the same powertrain losses).
I would think that torque has something to do with the numbers also. The Camry only has what? 267ftlb
vs Accord with 273ftlb. Not saying I know but just guessing the more torque has to help.

It's not much better in USD, about 550/month. Though that's not unreasonable for a 35k car, but at that point you might as well buy it outright through a loan. If you really wanted a V6 Camry, I'd do the TRD over the XSE, the only major downside is that it doesn't have passthrough seats due to the stuff they added in the rear to increase rigidity, it goes for 5k less or about 450/month. The TRD Camry is the cheapest way to get the 301HP V6 NA motor.
Toyota could have made a really big splash in the mid size sedan market with a manual transmission in the new TRD Camry.

Outside of first gear, it probably wouldn't play as big of a role. The actual powerband (rev range and power in said rev range) would make a bigger difference once you're past 1st gear.

Yes. It is where peak torque kicks in the RPM and also gearing - when you are closer in specs.

So I was driving along late night around 1am the road was clear when a Camry flew pass me full speed so I decided to catch up to him at red light and oh boy he pulls down his window and nod his head ....so as the green light came on I floor my car in L gear also was on map 3 of tsp tune i was able to keep up with him for about 4 seconds and then this Camry just run away and left me about 4 to 5 car lengths ahead of me I was shocked so is the Camry way faster than a 1.5 cvt turbo civic on tsp map 3 tune ? Dude I was like what da actual fuccc

You tried to out do a camry in your 1.5L CVT..lol. maybe your civic against corolla

I've had no troubles against numerous V6 "family sedans" (Accord, Altima etc.) in my tuned CVT 1.5T with TSP Stage 1 and stage one intake setup. Around 220 whp and nearly 250 tq moves 2900 lbs. pretty good out on the highway.

Add in some stickier tires, lighter wheels and a bit of elevation and it's even more of an unfair comparison.

Should have bought a Type R, modded it and smoked that fool... Seriously though, I don't light to light with anyone I like my "roooooollllliinnnngggg staaaaaaaarrrrts" like in Daytona the video game. After modding traction varies heavily on road and weather conditions.

Stock:
CV6 = 3.5-Liter - 301 hp @ 6600 rpm; 267 lb.-ft. @ 4700 rpm (3500 lbs)
CTR = 2.0-Liter - 306 hp @ 6500 rpm; 295 lb.-ft. @ 2500 rpm (3100 lbs)

Who cares when the Camry rolls by... but the CTR gets people to turn their heads. Also Camry has extremely limited modding in comparison.
