I hate that they pretend they have money to give out. They are more in debt than all the people who are receiving this money. They need to stimulate their own income by collecting taxes more efficiently, correcting the tax gap, and stop spending more than they make. But instead they approach everything like a con artist, just trying to make things look good and hiding the books. Stimulus or not, I honestly don't need this money so I won't keep it. I'll donate my check to a charity and they will certainly spend it. And yes, I'm advocating this as a better plan for most recipients.
I don't think that will exactly stimulate the economy. A charity will probably give it to some overpaid executive who will horde it or use it for a project that won't turn a profit, like some community rally. You buying parts from a small business pays a salary that will be used to buy groceries etc and keep the economy growing. It would also get taxed when you spend it and then again when the worker gets paid. Not trying to defend the government, but this plan cooks the books just as much. Not trying to attack you personally though, just don't think that plan fulfills the public intention behind the check.

While I agree that some charities, or even a lot of them, barely do good because they are run by greedy people, I suggest that there are easy ways to determine a charities donating vs donations received. If you dont want to do any searching to find a good charity then here a quick pick list you could use : https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.marketwatch.com/amp/story/guid/f709cf92-8bf9-4b02-bead-b98f825becf8

And with an economic downturn, people often give less to charities, so giving a stimulus check will will help level out their donations.

Hello everybody as you know the coronavirus is out and about raking some havoc thanks to President Trump we will be getting a stimulus package that will probably be around 600-1000$$ being a Honda fanatic I have to just now what will you be purchasing for your Honda with this?
Personally I think this is a great opportunity to get a Ktuner!!
A lot of politicians will have helped produce this stimulus. Trump would be at the bottom of the list.

I’m sure most of us know that the stimulus package is meant to help stimulate the economy at this time, but a lot of us are uncertain what’s to come out of all this... unfortunately, some people already know, and are out of work... so stimulating the economy isn’t going to help them, saving to pay bills, or feed their family is what they’re going to do with the money.

Maybe we shouldn’t judge what people plan on doing with the money... I doubt that was OPs motive when making this post was to find out, and judge what the next man does. Just a question to keep things somewhat “fun” and keep our minds off of the negativity...

My military pay is pretty safe. Once Fontana went tits up, my leave for spring break weekend soon followed w/travel restrictions. As the this past Tuesday, the kids are out of school. Return? TBD.

Jenny and I had chewed on doing a pool on and off for a month or more... even before this come to a head. With the events of last week, I told her to go for it since spring break and potentially summer plans are gone. We went out to eat at our favorite restaurant a week ago and bought an extra gift card. I told Jenny a few days ago to buy ahead some extra sessions from her personal trainer whose spouse is now out of work and who used the gig for extra income but who now is the breadwinner... and doesn’t bring in a living wage. The neighbor 2 houses down just got laid off. We were up until 2300 to help him write a proper resume instead of the rambling, fragmented Vita-style thing he started with.

I’m very fortunate to have protected income and had already planned to spend a chunk for spring break anyways and... well if we’re going to implement a monetary policy to inject cash into circulation to allow people to buy goods in the short term, and essentials as needed, it certainly isn’t a long-term solution but may help get through the hump. I fear that it’s going to take many iterations of it to get us through as I believe many schools won’t reopen this year with daycares down so many dual income families are down to one just to care for kids. A lot of folks are laid off or at least furloughed. We’re just a handful of days into what I think is going to go for quite some time. On a logarithmic scale... we’re still tracking up like a straight line in the US. The numbers are relatively low in the whole scene of things, but if we don’t flatten it, it’s going to build quickly. Sadly, I think even if number of cases flattens, it may be more due to data clip from limited testing.

Bush and Obama both played this game in ‘08 and ‘09 and history seems mixed on its effectiveness. As I understand the economy... and admittedly, my knowledge is very limited, this won’t really raise our debt. It will, however, raise the amount of money in circulation and serve to increase inflation. Evictions and foreclosures have already been frozen from what I read... this will go to buy essentials if necessary and to hopefully promote some spending to prop up foundering business.

I know the local video game store is making a *killing*. I saw the writing in the wall a week ago that school might stop and let the kids pick out a game for their little Nintendo things. They said business had never been better.

The Civic? She’s not getting any love other than maybe a car wash by hand. That TSP tune is as far as she’ll get for the foreseeable future... though I keep watching the blogs on 27WON’s new TIP. Waiting for a dyno.

That TIP is only going to benefit those that are/have gone much larger turbos. The bottleneck on stock turbo isn’t the TIP. So, you are golden there bud.

This is fair, I can't fault you for that. It is also yours to spend just as much as it is mine. Let's hope we stay on track so we can talk about car mods without having to worry about the economics of it.

Kid you not I have been spending all this week testing on stock turbo cars with the TIP upgrade. @charleswrivers

On the topic of the stimulus package, it is an interesting one. Because spending it on car parts does technically help. For example, a purchase made to us as a small business really helps. It gives us the resources that are needed to continue further R&D. As well it affects the business we work with like our cardboard manufacture, packing supplier, various vendors and suppliers, and etc. It's a big chain.

I see some people misunderstand "stimulus". Stimulus is not welfare. Its not really intended for the recipients (although it helps:)). "Stimulus" is directed at businesses and the economy. Spend your stimulus money on whatever you want, that's exactly what it's for. To stimulate spending and help the economy. Actually, going to a hotel bar and spending it all on drinks would be the best, because this would transfer the money the most effectively to the restaurant/hospitality business which is being badly hurt. The worst misuse of the stimulus money would be to put in a savings account. Very unpatriotic.
A lot of people in this thread have no idea what a Stimulus Package is and what it's for. But the above quote is a good explanation of it.

You’ll get no argument from me. Charge/intake pipes on a stock turbo’ed Z car beat out exhaust and just the intake alone for what they could do. Been following the blog with much anticipation. Glad y’all are seeing what a effect it is on a car w/the stocker and not just the 27WON drop-in.

well i've already lost 20% of my weekly hourly billing this week due to this damn virus shit and we are wrapping up the current project we are working on, frankly I don't even know if I will have a job come Monday because of this virus overreaction, so sure as shit not gonna blow money on unneeded parts, hell I might have to cancel the wheel/tire package order I have pending the wheels getting off backorder because that money represents another few weeks I can survive without any income.

I've got enough savings to get by for 6-8 months without any income but we are 18 months at a minimum from a vaccine being globally available and until then it's gonna be 2 months of lockdowns, 1 month of freedom and cycle repeats in an attempt to "flatten the curve" so hospitals can handle the load, unless they start talking monthly checks or a damn UBI we aren't gonna make it with this flattening the curve crap, I can only imagine how bad this crap is for people living paycheck to paycheck.
