CTR seat replacement options?

Bru87tr

Whats the big deal taking the other car when you go out ? My wife never liked my Turbo T, so we took her car (or my Jeep) when we went out together.

My car was my toy. I took it to work and took it out on sat or sunday for solo drives. Nothing wrong with alone time with the car. :)

If my wife didnt like the seats, We would just take a different car. Plenty of time to take the CTR out other days, right ?

Personally dont see the big deal.

My guess is that 1/2 of you are single, and will always be single until you grow up... Or you're in kind of abusive and controlling relationships.

When a real man gets married, and their spouse has medical problems that warrant a change to the passenger seat of their car, they change it.

All you children will hopefully learn that. Or I definitely feel sorry for your current/future spouse...

With that said. They should bolt straight in. The only thing I don't know about is the airbag sensor.

It SHOULD be the same. But i'm not totally sure.
100% agree !!!

One option the OP might consider is getting the original R seat Modified , to be more of a custom fit for his wife.. whatever profile of the seat that is causing an issue could probably be modified by an experienced upholsterer. Such a change might not even be that noticeable, but make the world of difference.
Body shapes vary, both between males, and even more so between males & females.
It is not unreasonable to expect that a seat like those in the R, would be a compromise, biased towards the male body shape.

My experience is with the SI seats, and I find that while the driver and passenger seats are very similar, the drivers seat "SEEMS" to be far more comfortable .. maybe because of the position one is in when driving, and the added support of holding the steering wheels ?

So I find the drivers seat "comfortable" when driving, but if I sit in the passenger seat for any length of time, it most defiantly causes back pain & numbness of the butt.

Just maybe, those males that drive their R all the time, are not aware of how different the passenger seat can feel ... until they actually try sitting in the passenger seat and letting their wife/gf drive for a bit !!!

I find it funny to see some members be like "fuck no, I'd never replace a seat in my car for a significant other!! Get rid of her!!" And then other members be like "well that's thoughtful of you trying to address her discomfort"

There was a time when I was like the first members mentioned... And now I'm like the second members mentioned. Funny how priorities in life start to shift :D when I was 21, my car came before everyone and everything else... Now well over a decade later and although I LOVE cars still, you realize they're just a material possession and there's way more important shit to worry about, like a family or a house (which gains value as opposed to losing value).

But I digress :D

That being said... If you swap to any other civic seat, as long as it has side airbags, they should all be swappable. Why? Honda isn't about to make a different SRS connector for one type of seat, and another for another type of seat. By the end, they all likely connect to the same wire harness so it makes sense to keep everything as similar as possible- cost savings 101.

Also... All the floorboards are the same for all hatchbacks. I bet the sedans and coupes are the same also, again for cost savings. No one wants to redesign a seat mounting point 3 times and put it through testing 3 separate times if they don't have to. Make it all the same, save big money.

Finally did it.

Connectors are all the same. Only issue is the weight sensors in each seat have a unique serial number, so had to take it to the dealership to get the SRS code cleared and the weight sensor calibrated.
Hatch seat is a bit lighter than the Type R seat, so there's that. Didn't weigh it but I'd say at least 5 lbs lighter.

So 10 lbs weight reduction then if you swap both seats? Do it! :p
