I can see my mail before it entirely gets here and I've got two letters coming from Oil Dillution Claims settlement Administrator in Torrence CA.
Anyone know what this is?

I might not actually get them till tomorrow and am just curious.

Unfortunately I am not replying with an answer, just stating that my girlfriend is getting the same notice. Sometimes seeing what you're getting is a pain if you don't get home until 5ish. Gf has a 2016 EX-L coupe. I have a 19 ST hatch, no letter for me. I'm curious, we have not gotten anything in the mail prior to this. She bought the car in October.

Got it sooner than I thought, it's about a class action lawsuit going on for the oil dilution issues.
If you've had any costs due to it, it says you may get reimbursed, maybe not...etc etc.
If you want to be able to sue Honda at any point you have to exclude yourself. I just want to know how long they extended the warranty for.
Looks like if you exclude yourself, you don't get the extended warranty.

You get an extended warranty either way 16-18 Civics with the 1.5T. This is just a money grab by lawyers. They get paid legal fees, either by you or Honda, for an issue already covered by Honda. You are already covered if you had a reason to be worried.

I was going to ask about this. I got the same letter yesterday.

I never participate in these things, and I don't see the need to start now. I did get the paperwork from Honda about the extended warranty and all that a few months back.

Am I supposed to do something with this to ensure that they don't rescind my extended warranty? Or is that just a threat to force people to want to jump into this supposed class action lawsuit?

See, I never got any letter about the extended warranty, and I may be wrong, but some of the wording seems to say that you give up the extended warranty if you remove yourself from the lawsuit .
In either case, if you want to be removed and able to pursue any action against Honda, you HAVE to write this letter and include all kinds of info and physically send it in. Can't be done online or on the phone. If you do nothing, your automatically in the lawsuit.
Edit: I was wrong, it doesn't SEEM to say, it says plain as day if you exclude yourself you get no warranty extension.

I was included in one of these things once. I never did a thing because at the time I was moving and a lot of other aspects were on my mind.

Long story short; apparently the class action lawsuit was won and everyone got like $12.00 gift cards to Barnes and Noble or something but I never claimed it or anything.

But that was something that wasn't that big of a deal. With this, I am concerned that the wording seems to indicate that they are going to remove me from the extended warranty if I do this or that or whatever.

I'm not interested in pursing this crap. Never have been. The $20.00 gift card I'd eventually get to Honda.com or whatever isn't worth all the hassle. I just don't want to be removed from Honda's official extended warranty (which I have the paperwork for) if I ignore this class action lawsuit letter and shove it into the junk pile with the rest of the garbage mail.

I didn't trade the car when all this malarkey about oil dilution came to light because I am not interested in having a car payment again. Life is expensive enough as it is. I own my '17.

Well,it does say if you do nothing, you do still keep the extended warranty,so your good to go. Since you got the letter, how long are they extending it too?

I would have to look again, I'm at work right now. But I thought it was something along the lines of 5 years / unlimited miles for the powertrain or something like that ...

I didn't trade in my car when all this oil dilution talk started because I am not interested in making car payments again. I own my '17.

I'll look at the paperwork when I get home and confirm the numbers on that extended warranty. Unless someone else jumps in here before then.

I just got off the phone with Honda, and she said it was extended to 6 years, unlimited mileage, I asked them to send me the letter in be any case.

I confirmed that too. We still dont really know the extent of this. Many dont even know about it or have any issue ...
What really gets me with this, it says in this letter that their fix it update for this issue is only for those in cold weather states, and mentions new New Jersey, and PA.
I live right next to those states and this was one of the mildest winter's we have had in a while, but there still were times when it was 28 degrees out and a lot of times 35 or below. That's cold in case the idiots at Honda can't tell.
I also could of sworn that members on here from MD said they got the letter for the update.

Just got this info from American Honda for anyone with an extended warranty who's interested.
I've got a 7 year Honda care plan, it would not cover the wear or issues due to oil dilution since they consider it just that, wear and tear, they say the extended warranty they are offering covers any WEAR and TEAR for 6 years unlimited mileage.

All of this only has any consequences if this lawsuit is won in court. I predict it will lose, so it's just a piece of printed paper.

But on second thought, these lawyers set the bar so low, that Honda will gladly settle for what they were already giving anyway, and as usual, no one will get anything out of it but the lawyers.

Which is why I'm thinking of excluding myself from this.
