It's on top of the strut tower. You can see the UR strut bar installed. The 4th smaller nut started to rust about 6 months ago. It's gotten worse and the one on the other side is starting to corrode. I can only assume 'meh' quality control from Honda again.

I'm sure I can replace or clean/seal it with no problems. But am I going to F something up by turning it?

It’s a locating stud to hold camber at a set angle. You can remove it, it won’t affect camber if you do. But with it removed, you can loosen the three other strut nuts and adjust camber. It’s a very small range, less than a degree if I remember correctly.

Also, you will not F something up by turning it. It will eventually come out if you do. It’s not threaded into the strut mount, it’s splined. So it’s removed by pulling it straight up. Turning it just damages the splines and eventually there’ll be no splines to hold it in.

Well I'm glad I asked. Maybe I'll just sand that bitch down and paint it with Rustoleum.

I would just remove it and toss it into the trash. Most anyone who adjusts the suspension does this. Even if you aren't modifying the suspension, it won't hurt. The extra stud is only there for assembly purposes, similar to the screws in the brake rotor hats. Typically there is not even a nut on top of the stud. I am wondering if someone other than the manufacturer put them on there.

Think of it another way: rusting in your case is exposed. By simply removed rust and put protection on will address that issue.
However, wiggling to remove protruding pin will not guarantee paint damage will not happen between mating surface below where your eyes can not see. Rusting will certainly happen if paint is compromised .

I have different opinion regarding screw in the brake rotor hat as well. As well as thread engagement on two of the three flange nuts shown. But I leave it at that.

Your choice. Good luck!

Hmm. Thanks for all the advice, everyone.

I'm due for service in about 90 days. I'll remove the strut bar and let Honda deal with it since I'm still under warranty.

Thanks again.

I was never comfy with that either.

Since I was going to remove the bar for the trip to Honda anyway; I decided to take it off tonight. I really couldn't tell much of a difference without it. That was my impression when I installed as well.

So thanks for the polite nudge.
