I really love the car and I wasn't going to post anything As the other stuff can be overlooked but in the last week....

#1—super loud brake squeal from front brakes.

Like embarrassingly loud. Like it’s exactly at the brake pedal pressure I want to stop at so I hit the brakes hard than I need to then ease up light until I stop. Medium pressure creates an extremely loud embarrassing almost ear piercing squeal. It’s not anything at all like the warning sound you get when brakes are low. I got the car 11/2019 and it has 2,600 miles. I do mostly city driving. When I get a chance At night I’m going to Some hard braking on the highway. Wondering if the pads are glazed? I have no idea but some hard braking on local streets helped it a tiny bit. It’s not because the ambient temp is cold around Boston. It was 65 degrees F when I was driving today.

While I’m at it....

#2—Infotainment system is slow and Apple CarPlay does not always work. Had the screen go black on me and stayed that way until I restarted the car. Dash will show the songs while the infotainment screens will say “Loading...” until car is restarted. Sounds is ok, not the best in radio mode.

#3—Could have lumped in with #2 but I feel it’s a separate issue—-> Poor search system for Apply CarPlay and USB music. Am I doing it wrong?????
On my 2012 Odyssey you could search by song or artist then search by letter instead of going through all the folders. It was very fast using the big knob in the middle of the dash. Again, am I doing this wrong?

Not a complaint but more so a comment: The exhaust is a little quiet but it has enough burble you can hear it, I’m good with it. I live in a quiet neighborhood so it’s good. Family can hear me in the house when I pull in. Besides, the po-po won’t hear me! Car already looks loud as is.

Now ask me what I love about this car...:):):)

Pretty much agree with most people.

1. Overheating on track.
2. OVERHEATING ON TRACK.
3. Interior rattles. Buzz in the center speaker area. Buzz in one of the A-pillars.
4. Squeaky seat. Every time I take a corner or I shift my weight, "squeak!" It is immensely annoying.
5. Delicate finish on piano black grille. Melts if you touch it with any solvent, like my PPF installer did. Including isopropyl alcohol.

This is my first car with bluetooth, so I can't complain about the infotainment. I'm just glad I can play any music at all from my phone! :D
However, the infotainment software doesn't get updated like it should. They should do it like Tesla.

With that commute, why the hell are you DD your Type R??? That's what your Cruze should be for! You're putting a ton of miles on your R for what I assume is mostly highway driving. To each their own obviously, but that's crazy.
The Cruze is for the commute. I’ve put 70k on it, and it’s a 2017. Sometimes, you just want to Cruise in style to work. I only drive it, like once a week, to work. It was a month old, on the 4th of March, and I have 1,600 miles on it, now.

I love my 2019 Type R. Only have 475 miles on it, so I haven't opened her up yet.

One thing I have noticed is the power windows are unbelievable slow!

I bought this car to autocross. It's not a daily drive!. So I'm looking forward to our first event on March 31. Yesterday Fed Ex delivered a set of MR924's with Bridgestone Potenza RE71-R's.

I have a 2019 with ~6,200 miles. Although some people claim this year shouldn’t have the 2nd gear grind, I’ve experienced it with my car. I have felt it grind numerous times even with the slowest of shifts. I’m going to take it to the dealer to have them exchange the fluid. I’ll mention that I’ll be happy to pay for the service and hope it fixes my issue but if it doesn’t, I’ll ask to have it pursued under warranty.

The paint quality feels just as cheap, if not cheaper, than my ‘06 Evo MR.

I really dislike the 20” wheels. I cringe if I ever have to drive on an older road that has broken pavement...I keep thinking these wheels are going to bend with ease.

The info center (radio) is slooowww...thankfully I only use it for CarPlay.

That’s about it from me. I love the car otherwise.

Too much TPMS false low pressure warnings.
No manual hand brake.
Bad build quality. Too much rattling everywhere.
Finicky hatch opening switch.
Hatch floor not flat.
Touch screen AC (fixable with other Civic parts)
20 inch wheels.

-small fuel tank capacity
-crappy sound system
-20inch wheels are a joke
-quiet exhaust note (doesn’t align with the overall bold design of the car)
-wheel hop on 1st to 2nd gear hard acceleration
Otherwise, I freakin love my FK8. Always gets me Smiles Per Hour ☺

Heavy over sized wheels with ugly offset
Shit tires
Horrible intercooler
Weak titty fuel pump
Paint chips too easy
The alcantara arm rests that you can't use without making them fade to white.
Comfort mode steering and inability to pick and choose settings.
Very short fuel range

A lot of that is nitpicking. Luckily mines a 19 and I don't have to deal with the awful touch screen as much.

@ people complaining about off the line acceleration.... It's front wheel drive, not rear or all wheel, what do you expect? With hondata and a bit of tweaking it still gets moving really easily. Especially with it's heavily dampened 1st. Because of how this is geared 0-60 is pretty irrelevant. Still can do 0-80 in around 6-7 seconds when the road is dry and warm. 8 seconds at the worst

You know, it’s funny. In the 2 years I’ve owned the car I have never received a single TPMS warning. Maybe it’s just by chance. That or I have a bad sensors or something. Wasn’t sure if I wanted to bring it up to the dealer or not.

  • engine doesn't sound so good
  • body panel gaps

oh MAN there is an awful rattle that comes out of some kind of plastic housing in my passenger door. Every time I am trying to groove out to some Billie Eilish it starts rattling and it drives me NUTS

Air down one of your tires to 20 psi or something and see if it works I guess?

Chippy paint, although to be fair my commute now is exposing me more to dump trucks and construction zones

Attention from nerds and kids. Fun sometimes, but usually I'm just trying to get on with my day.

My boss likes to joke about my "race car." The assumption is that I built my Type R instead of buying it like this from the factory.

Sinking hood vent. I'm going to point it out when I go in for an oil change.

Getting in and out - I don't find it a real chore, my friends find it a chore. I've had to buff out more than a few scuffs from people kicking my side skirts on their way in or out. I can also see a situation where if I get injured, it would be a bitch and a half to get in and out of the drivers seat.

Worrying about dings/scratches etc. Worrying about others driving my car, like mechanics or valets. I have never really cared about this before beyond a couple of months of a new car. Going on 2 years of ownership, it's starting to fade a little but still strong. I try to park away from others and in corners. I take pictures of my odometer when dropping the car off and point out my scratch free wheels and clean side skirts.

Tires. Rotations are a must and I am doing them more frequently than with any other car I've owned. 23k miles and my stock tires are at 4/32. The Conti DWS 06's I bought are at 4/32. I just bought a set of PS4S and even with rotation, I expect them to die well before their 30k mileage warranty. But that's the reality of going fast - got to pay for it. Pro-tip - Discount Tire Direct will pro-rate the mileage warranty for you. Highly recommend, they gave me a huge credit for the DWS 06's I bought there.

I guess the gas tank, but I wouldn't enlarge it at the expense of interior volume or weight. I typically fill up once a week, which is OK for me.

Seats are fantastic and keep you planted in corners. But they can also be a little tight on your jimmies.

Overall, love my car. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

lol wow - I can't believe so many people find that much to pick apart on this car I must have a low threshhold for annoyance. I stand by my original response in here - car is great end to end.

- I don't expect amazing paint on cars that are in this price range - this is a sad reality for cars for the last 20 years almost so isn't it time to just accept it and move on? lol - Get some touch up paint - realize it's a Honda - and repaint the bumper or get some 3m if you want to keep it perfect. I bought a car to drive - I have some rock chips - I don't care / touch them up when needed

- Infotainment slow - ok - it's a bit laggy, but is that really something to spend money on over making the rest of the car have all it has? I don't even notice it anymore tbh as I just use the thumb control on the steering wheel to change songs in whatever media I'm engaged in at the time. But this is something to complain about? lol. This factory stereo is very decent overall - good sound / decent power - good set of features. Maybe people spend too much time on phones and expect that snappy response? I rate that - who cares / 100

- Complaints about steering or driving feel - Have you guys ever driven any other cars? Complaining about any aspect of this cars handling or driving feel just completely baffles me. I've had vettes, EVO's, Subaru's, BMW's, and I put this little badass at the top of the list of most all of them. I would have to spend about $150k to get to the same driving feel and corner holding as this with a similar power to weight distribution (911 GT3 Rs etc.)

- Rattles - Take it to the dealer? I have zero rattles and drive over Houston streets which feel like they came out of a warzone. Perhaps nothing like the snow damaged streets of up north, but they aren't 'smooth' where I live, close to downtown. Zero rattles - When I took it to Austin to visit friends the buddy I have that has had nothing but X5 M's for as long as I can remember was like 'Wow Honda built a car that feels like what a BMW should feel like. Great power, silent interior / light and nimble'. This is a guy that never drove any of the cars I've had for the last 20 years for more than 2 minutes. When I was there for the weekend I couldn't get him out of my car - he drove it 6 times

There are more but really after the first page this thread seemed to turn into a contest of 'What can I come up with to pick apart this car that I think I like?' lol

Too funny - happy motoring all but some of these posts - lol - seriously how? And if you hate it that much (weird) get a different car

You act like people can’t have opinions and that the Type R is seemingly perfect. It’s not. Plus, you’ve only owned your CTR for what, a few months now? Some of the posters here are going on a year or more. Once the honeymoon phase wears off you do notice the flaws more.

We don’t intentionally try to find flaws. They are apparent to us because we’ve noticed them. Whether or not you find them to be a flaw or not is irrelevant. Some could be nitpicking, but remember, this car is far from the only one in it’s class.

For a lot of us who have daily driven this car for a significant period of time, you do realize that as great as the Type R is, it has flaws. And that’s fine, because the flaws IMO add to it’s character. To ignore these flaws IMO is feigning ignorance. Maybe you got a really good car, but others clearly didn’t. Each car is different and might possess quirks that another one doesn’t.

Attacking people for speaking their mind about what they don’t like about the car is a bit ridiculous IMO.
