I’ve been going round and round with us. Took it to the dealership who picked it up to the Honda regional engineer. They said it was normal operating parameters. They refused the warranty claim. Noise is so bad it could be heard over the stereo. When talking to the Honda America rap about the European STB and all the complaints on the form she said I shouldn’t be self diagnosing and that forms are just a place to complain so they hold no weight. Now I have to decide whether to just get rid of the car and lose thousands of dollars
That is obnoxious sounding. My god I would be livid if I had to live with that on a daily basis when I needed the A/C on.

I went to my local dealer (Wooster, OH) with the front page of the TSB ST-09-002-01 posted here. Dealer could not find it either. Does anyone have the full document? Looks like this is a European TSB, and the part numbers on it are not the same as the parts on my 18 sport hatch 6mt. The dealer service guy will contact someone from Honda America service to find out how they can fix the issue. Fingers crossed.
TSB ST-09-002-01 is a European TSB, and there is not an American equivalent. Parts are different between models on either side of the pond. The dealer said I can bring my car back when the weather gets warmer to troubleshoot the issue.

I went from the local dealer to the Regional Honda engineer in charge of warranty approvals and then Honda America. I got the exact same response, that is, it’s European and doesn’t use the same parts so therefore the TSB is invalid (even though it’s identifying the exact same problem) All of them denied a warranty claim. They said the noise is within satisfactory operating parameters. I’m not exaggerating when my half deaf 90-year-old father-in-law got in the car with the AC on and asked what that noise was. I can hear it over the stereo and that’s completely acceptable to Honda

Seriously, what is up with us in Canada being able to get this dealt with and everyone else seems SOL???
Who knows, I guess Honda Canada is a different entity than elsewhere. I got a service bulletin in the mail about it last november and it came with a 10 year warranty extension. The also fixed an issue with my brakes under warranty during the same visit (replaced rear pads and rotors)

Mine makes this whining noise like this video, but it also has an even more annoying sound that happens 100% of the time that the ac is on, sounds like two tiny mice fighting in my dash. constant light squeaking/chirping.

Hahaha that's a great way to describe it. Mine was doing the same thing.

Joined up to say my thanks and also to say I have the same problem.

I have spent a decent amount of time documenting the issue including video recording the problem. Like everyone else it appears to be related to the AC.

I own a 2017 Honda Civic hatchback sport touring manual. The noise was present pretty much right away from the dealer but was so quiet it never got looked at. In fact when I first mentioned it a year ago, Alberta Honda failed to document or look at it as a problem.

The noise has gotten worse. I have brought it in 3 times now and was charged $200 for them looking into it and replacing an air filter. First attempt they did not document the problem. Second attempt said it was a cabin air filter. Third attempt they acknowledged the noise and said it was not normal. They did some amount of work on the car. They refused to tell us what they where doing. (Another one of those dealerships). We got the car back and no noise for a good 3 weeks. One day it just came back.

I have created a case with Honda Canada and continuing my attempts to get the problem fixed. As of right now Honda Canada has stated on paper this is “normal engine noise.” I wish there was a way we could band together to hit the point home. There is documentation and a number of people with the exact same problem.

I would put good money that they evacuated the system and recharged it and that was it.

They need to replace the siphon hose. It is a different part on the 1.5T than it is on the 2.0NA but the issue was indeed present on both models of setup. I am now almost 3 years since the replacement and the noise has never returned.

Oh and I should say that dealers like that are stupid.

The dealership we use has been, legitimately, a 95% to 98% perfect long term experience (Been going there for one thing or another for almost 26 years now). Because of this, they had the opportunity to sell us a loaded 2020 CRV Touring.

If I was dicked around as much as some people have experienced, I would have gone to Toyota or Ford long ago.

I've told my dealer about that problem when I was in for the last inspection. But they did nothing. But I can live with it, it's not as loud as in the video a few posts above. If it will be louder, I'm going to the dealer again, still having two years of warranty left.

Big thanks to this thread. After numerous attempts to have the local Honda dealer fix this (read my prior posts), they finally did the suction hose replacement and the noise is gone.
But ONLY AFTER:
- I presented this Service Bulletin
AND
- filed Lemon Law notice to corporate. Even then, the Factory Service Tech who investigated said the part was not available (at the same time local dealer told me it was on order and arrived) and local said there was system problem ordering a part for a different year.

I told the Service MGR & FST about the MANY other owners and dealerships struggling to diagnose & fix it and that US should also have this Bulletin if not a full recall (corp is way too cheap for that since no threat of lawsuit).

Unbelievably BS support of their vehicles.

Big thanks to this thread.
This is the power of community. Even when we get at each other over "my oil is best oil" (Yes I was channeling Mr. Regular :) ), we all try to help each other as much as we can.
