The 1.5T CVT is an awesome highway passing machine. Fun actually. My gripe stock was that the combination of CVT/ turbo lag takes away a bit from off the line fun. The nice thing for me is that tuning has mostly corrected this and it really has satisfying power in any situation.
Every time I see your posts about tuning I wish I was closer to dropping on one... Trying to hold out until warranty is up but I doubt I'll last with how many good reviews I see here. Everything I feel like the car is missing, the tune seems to correct for everyone.

A great philosopher once asked, "to mudflap, or not to mudflap... that is the question".

My car came with them, but my son convinced me that removing them would look better. I think I agree with him.

I like your wheels, can you please tell me where you got them from?

Edit: NVM, I saw them in your description. I'll look them up myself.

So here's the thing. I started here at CivicX back in 2015. Well before the 10th gen even dropped. It took me almost two years to finally pull the trigger on a 10th gen. I like to research (a lot) before making a big decision. Same with tuning. Just like you I was worried about safety and the warranty. But base tuning seemed relatively safe and people convinced me it was a good move.

I've been tuned two years now and it's been fantastic. It took my car from a solid, peppy commuter with some quirks (mainly too much lag between light and heavy throttle presses) to a car that never has any trouble getting out of its own way in any traffic situation. Until you actually tune your car, you have no idea what you've been missing. It's almost like a different animal.

Put it to you another way. You could easily drop $500 for a better intercooler and it would be a nice upgrade. For the same $500, a tuner will easily add 30+ whp and 30+ wtq and have you grinning ear to ear the first time you hit the throttle. Guaranteed to be a "holy shit" moment.

I ended up getting bored so I bought some controller LED strips and built an android app that runs on the Civic's head unit in order to customise it. Lights up the driver-side footwell. Still early days but it's something!

Pretty cool. How did you interface the HU to the lights?

It's connected via USB. You can use either one of the two USB ports in the car.

Little bit of extra information in case you're interested. The LED strip is a 'BlinkStick Flex'. The android app on the HU communicates with the device via this USB connection. You can code it change colour of all or individual lights, as well as change the intensity of each one.

I'm still working on the app. Recently I've managed to get it to 'remember' settings , so basically when you switch the car on, the lights automatically come back on with the same colour/behaviours you used last.

Looks awesome. I really want to lower mine, and seeing white models like yours makes me want to even more, since mine is also the WOP color. But the roads suck here, and there's too many areas I frequent that I would most likely scrape badly. Also, we get a ton of snow sometimes, and I'm too poor to pick up a reliable winter beater. Lol.

After 6 months of saying I was doing this, finally got 3D maxpider mats and got rid of my weathertechs.
I was a fan of the weathertechs at first, especially over the husky liners as they looked much nicer, but after 5 sets of them, after about a few months or so, they start to bow and deform on the sides so bad, that all kinds of garbage would get between them and the carpet.
The only thing the weathertechs had that I like a little better is the deep channels that pulled water away from my feet. Might not even be an be issue.

I have the 3D Maxpider mats for my front row. I like them a lot.

Good to know about weather tech mats. Though I was sad to see that the Maxpider mats nor many other cargo liners actually fit the sport or sport touring models. That's really the only water-proof mat I wanted for my car too lol
