Well, tuned my car on my lunch break. Went for the 6psi with PRL intake option. Holy crap!! It's like a new car! You can feel the torque. He just wants be let loose and run. When you get on it, you can really feel it pull you back in the seat. I went with Hondata because my buddy has experience with it from his Type R.
Now to get home tonight and figure how to configure the gauges and all that on my HU.

Soooo.......I just learned today that tuning and reflashing are not synonymous terms. Has anyone done the Hondata reflash only? I'm too chicken to go all the way.

@amirza786 please talk me out of this.
Unfortunately I don't know much about Hondata. When I was tuned, I used Ktuner with TSP's Stage 1 Tune. What a re-flash is when you overwrite the current tuning that is already in the ECU with a new tune, such as the Ktuner base tunes that come with Ktuner or TSP's Stage 1 tune. Before you decide to jump into this world, my advice is learn more about it. There are lots of posts on this issue including my thread on Ktuner. There are inherent risks with tuning, including possibly voiding your cars power train warranty

Educate yourself a bit and if you then make the informed decision to tune, purchase a tuning device. The Hondata dealer reflash is cheaper, sure, but it's a one time event. Trust me, owning a tuning device makes more sense. It allows you to make small user adjustments when you want that can completely change the car's driveability. Even if you decide tuning isn't for you, you can sell your unit and recoup a good portion of what you paid for it. And importantly, with a dealer reflash you can't even monitor vital things like knock control or fuel trims because you don't own a Hondata Flashpro unit.

@gtman although I realize nothing is completely foolproof, a simple reflash seems the "safest" option for long-term reliability. I'd be afraid of increasing horsepower beyond 225ish.
It's not all about power, it's about driveability. After being tuned awhile, you may find there are certain things about the driveability you want tweaked. With a reflash you'd have to go back to the Hondata authorized dealer and pay for another reflash. If you own your own, it's a 5 minute at home fix.

On the other hand, if you're positive that all you want is a one time set and forget setup, then by all means go the dealer reflash route. Keep in mind too that both Hondata and KTuner offer low power tunes that are only a bit more potent than stock.

In terms of tuning and reliability, here's a good read for you:

Nobody’s wife gets the excitement for car mods. If she does, she’s not normal.
That’s a sexist, stereotypical comment. My wife owns her 2019 CTR (Rallye Red). She has put in a couple of small mods & is saving up for a HONDATA device and exhaust mod. She is a veteran of the USAF & New Mexico Air National Guard whose job was maintaining and repairing turbojet engines in helicopters here at Kirtland Air Force Base. She is not just normal, she is SUPER-normal and your comment shows you to be a dick.

Hey now! Its the opposite in my house, lol. I drive the Type R and work in the automotive industry. My hubby just goes along with it - he's law enforcement. Ha.

Congrats on the Hondata! Just did it to the CTR a couple of weeks ago and LOVE IT!

It was a joke that most men can relate to. “Most” women aren’t into cars. When you get excited about modifying a vehicle, they generally don’t get it and see it as a poor financial decision.

I’m glad you have a cool wife that’s into cars. Try not to get too triggered by what people say on these forums, because I’ve seen much worse.

Sounds like you’ve got an unusually cool wife. Happy for you, pal!
They are not married yet. Knowing the general pattern, during the honeymoon, she'd be comparing Odyssey against Sienna. FBO, chipped, custom tuned, mind you.

Speaking of which, learning that a woman can drive a manual transmission car instantly adds about 2-3 points on the attractiveness scale. Seriously.

How about one that knows how drive a manual, owns a Type R, and actually works for a clutch company? Now that's a super rarity.... LOL

I would agree if it was still 1965. It’s 2020 and you need to grow up.

Haha you tell him my friend! I've been married 22 years (23 this upcoming September), and your wife is a rarity, at least from my perspective. My wife hated my Si from the day I brought it home. She complained it was too loud, too bumpy, it was too uncomfortable..yati yati yati. Of course she drives a Toyota Sienna that has a huge smooth V6 and gears taller than the jolly green giant! When I asked her if she wanted to learn how to drive a manual, she looked at me like I should be committed. If I don't service her car, it will never get serviced, and if the temp Gage ever went into the red, she would drive it until smoke started to billow out and engine comes to halt.

Anyway avoiding sexist talk is always best the policy, because, well just because

My girlfriend doesn't like my SI.
She finds the seats uncomfortable, the car too low,
too noisy ....so, when we go out together, we take
her RAV 4 whose suspension is even harder,
which consumes more gas.
I think that, like many older people, she feels safer
in taller, heavier and bulkier cars
As for Hondata, I installed the +6 on normal mode
and +9 on sport mode with a good tune on dyno
by a specialist and I am very happy with the result.
