Hey guys,

I'm coming from a pretty old 1999 Integra with no tech features what-so-ever, so this new Civic EX is a bit overwhelming in terms of tech lol, and I have a few question on how certain things work -

1. How do you go from ‘ACC’ mode to off? I don’t want to turn the car into ‘ON’ mode and then off. The diagram in the manual doesn’t make sense to me as it says something about the shifter being in P which by default it is, obviously.

2. For the Auto headlights, I don’t like how when it’s dark out and I unlock my car, it automatically turns on my headlights before I even turn on my car. Is there a way to disable this? I’d rather just have my headlights turn on when I turn my car on.

3. In my CVT tranny, there’s an ’S’ gear and a ‘L’ gear. In the manual it states both are for inclining and declining hills. Why is there 2 gears for this? I’ve also read somewhere that the ’S’ gear is for ‘Sport’ mode. If true, what does it even do?

4. What exactly does the “INT” for the windshield wipers do?

I don't use ACC so I don't know about that bit, but for the rest:

2. Yes, it's an options in the vehicle settings menu.
3. S isn't really a Sport mode, it just forces the CVT to rev higher before shifting. I haven't used it much but it seems to hold at around 3K RPM instead of D which tends to drop RPMs lower once it finds its ratio. L is similar, but I believe it's supposed to simulate lower gears more? L is supposed to be better for drag times as well, from a couple user's experiences.
4. INT lets you use the little dial on the side to adjust the timing for lower levels of rain, like a drizzle.

To turn off ACC mode just hold down on the distance set button and it should beep and show ACC OFF or Cruise Mode on the display. That's how it works in my Sport anyway.

You don't want to turn the ACC off.

Adaptive Cruise Control is one of the best features of this car. Turning it off will just make it a regular plain old Cruise Control. Why would anyone want to do that?

I believe he meant Accessory mode for ignition and not cruise control

Can be a pain in the ass if the distance isn’t set right...

I had the same issue with the headlights. I believe if you go into Settings > Vehicle Settings and dig around there it'll let you adjust all the headlight settings. Lmk if you're still unable to find it I'll double check. Btw, congrats on the new car!

I n00b thing I just learned was that you can adjust the distance BEORE you engage the ACC (just tap that button before hitting SET to your desired distance).

Correct, I meant the accessory mode for the ignition; not the adaptive cruise control.
you can't, but you also don't have to actually crank the car, simply DO NOT press the brake pedal, the first press of the Start/Stop button engages ACC, the second press is like turning the key to the ON position (but won't crank as long as your foot isn't on the brake) then the third press turns the car off completely just like as if you hit the button to turn the car off after you finished driving.

2. My 2016 EX-T will only turn on the headlights if I unlock the car after remote starting, the only options I've found in the menu system is about how long the headlights stay on after you get out of the car. But who knows maybe there is a setting in there somewhere. I would actually prefer the headlights come on with unlock myself as it would help with visibility without the need to do a remote start.

3. S is NOT Sport, it's "2nd Gear" and L is "Low Gear", basically these settings adjust how the CVT runs, they cause the transmission to put more load on the engine, similar to how you would downshift a traditional transmission to get faster acceleration by staying in a lower gear for longer or how when going down steep inclines you would drop to a lower gear so the engine/transmission keep you from going to fast (otherwise known as "Engine Braking"), Some do think of it as a "sport mode" because if you have every manually shifted a transmission you know you get more torque at higher RPM's by staying in a lower gear and that makes a car feel faster, so the newbs that have always driven auto cars and never driven in a gear other then Drive would then think it's a Sport mode because of the faster acceleration, but it simply isn't.

4. INT is Intermittent Wipers, basically your old car (like most honda's from back then) had a single intermittent speed, then a Low and a High speed wiper, these cars have variable speed intermittent wipers, meaning that +- on the wiper stalk rotates and allows you to adjust the speed of the Intermittent wipers from a very slow speed to basically the same speed as Low, but slows down to a slower speed when you come to a stop, basically it allows you to dial in the speed of your wipers far better then you could before, so like when it's raining heavy enough that you need a speed more then the slow intermittent but Low is too fast, you now have options between those speeds.
