The manual actually states the Agile Handling assist is off once the VSA is off

I posted this before in the autoX forum:
https://www.civicx.com/threads/d-street-type-r-autox-info-sharing.23556/page-26#post-690830

Summary is the normal VSA-off mode(+R then hold until the screen says off) the AHA actually makes the car looser(in the wet), which means its probably yawing the car more artificially with the brake. In the pedal dance mode it does not do this.

I normally run the normal VSA-off method and have had more than one time on cold tires on autoX course where the car will go into some pretty ridiculous FWD drifting on turn-in.

I’m new to the CTR, but can say with good certainty that TC Completely Off (pedal dance) is easier to drive for an experienced driver. I have over 18 years autocross and track experience in RWD and AWD.

First autocross in the CTR was with stock Conti CS6 tires and R+VSA off (long hold). Constantly fought with the car, and major power loss on corner exit. Not sure if it was power cut or braking by part of the TC system that doesn’t get totally disabled when using the long hold method. Placed 24/35, when I’m usually in the top quarter.

2nd autocross, motegi wheels with 255/35 Re71. I tried TC Off (pedal dance) and loved the way it drove. Very easy to control. Power on exit was good. Disappointed to learn that turning TC off with pedal dance forces you into Sport mode. Placed 4th, .036 behind a Z06.

So, re71 surely make a huge difference, but not sure which will be better: R+TC off (long hold) or Sport +TC off (pedal dance). Looking forward to hear others’ on-track experience trying both ways.

better yet, if someone finds a work-around to allow TC off (pedal dance) in R mode, that would be even better

I'm pretty sure +R with LONG PRESS traction off is better because isn't that the mode they set the records on at the Tracks for their marketing?

Interesting post. I ran an autocross this past weekend. First time with the Karcepts rear sway bar installed (Set at 3/3). Running MR924's with 245/35r19 RE71's. It would oversteer at the worst times, then begin to push. It was not natural, so clearly there is a nanny on somewhere. Next event I'll try the pedal dance in Sport and see if it becomes more progressive in it's response.

Honestly I'm not some kind of track king but I've done mid ohio a couple times this year and last, I've found I greatly prefer vsa on, in comfort mode. The steering feels better, and it feels like vsa is better about helping to bring the ass end of the car around to where the wheel is pointing.

The increased pedal travel makes easing on and off the throttle / brakes better, and the fake steering weight gets annoying after a full day of sessions.

As long as I'm willing to replace the rear pads, the VSA is extremely helpful if I try and work with it rather than fight it. I have found if I'm going real hard, and peeling out over my grip limits taking a turn wrong, it'll cut power, but that feels like I'm getting smacked for taking the corner wrong.

I think that it is that AHA is disabled while VSA is on and actively working. That's what it says in my manual (page 509, 2017 all hatchbacks manual). AFAIK, the pedal dance is the only (easy, stock) way to disable AHA.

I didn't know that doing the pedal dance doesn't work in R mode and only in Sport mode. Seems strange that you have to give up some of the stiffer stock settings to actually get rid of all the nannies, even if VSA fully off is not an accurate statement in R mode. I certainly don't want the car cutting power on me unless I was stuck in snow. This call for a bit of experimenting.

I document all the VSA modes on the wiki. https://fk8.wiki/Traction_Control

You shouldn't need to use the pedal dance on the track. The only thing it does is disable the high speed cornering assist. The fact that it forces you in sport mode proves that it's not meant for the track. It's meant for dynoing.

At least, that's what we think. Some people say it still gets in the way, but it doesn't make much sense for it to. If only Honda documented this stuff better.

I am not so sure that I want the rear brakes applied even lightly at over 80 mph. I will have to try both VSA long push and the pedal dance back to back.

I don't have track experience so I might change this article after reading some things in here.
