Convince me to buy or not buy 2019 CTR. Am I making a dumb decision?

I would just ride out the Accord lease and buy a used Type R when the lease is up.. With 17k net but with 5k expenses, it leaves you around 12k to play with. That's a good amount but SoCal is expensive and I don't know how well that income stretches down there. Also you stated that you are the sole breadwinner, what does your spouse do during the day? Will your spouse enter into the workforce in the foreseeable future which will bring up your net income and give you more breathing room to focus more on car stuff.

My recommendation was to seek advice from those whom know you (the OP) and that you trust (this was implied). I don’t know the folks I’m talking with on the forum and, therefore; cannot grant the level of trust needed for providing/accepting large purchase type advice.

Just to get a full picture, just a little background

In early 30s, married, no kids (but planning for near future), sole breadwinner for the house. Monthly income of about 17k/month but only started the job 4 months ago after years of schooling and training so don't have a ton saved up (~70k) Don't want to necessarily get into all the money since its not a financial advice sub, but I spend roughly about 5k/month on essentials. I haven't finalized my refinance, but also looking to spend about 5k/month on loan repayment.

I want to buy a 2019 CTR. Best offer so far (in socal), 42k out the door (including warranty), my current plan is to put 12k down, already preapproved for a loan, monthly payments will be ~550/month.

But have 2 years left on lease (2019 accord manual), I'd lose about $4000 selling the lease at this point.

my current dilemmas

I know I'm essentially wasting money to get what I want early- but is this completely irresponsible financially? Is waiting the only and right answer?

Is this car even worth it at this point in my life...I can be spending that money on school loans, saving up for house, etc.

Less of a financial dilemma-- should I wait for 2020 model (I like the honda sensing, but not a need need, but just feel like I'd be missing out; but also anticipating huge markups for 2020 on release esp in socal, so would I have to wait another year or so to see reasonable prices)

Thanks for reading, I know there are no "right or wrong" answers, lot of is personal preference and decision making, but just want to hear people's thoughts and opinions.

It's not hard to get. He just finished school to become a doctor. He hasn't been in practice long enough to accumulate much yet. Plus that tuition left him with a mountain of debt. The only way he'll get to where you are is to knock out the debt first.

No, you are talking about having fun in an AWD car in OH and in winter. If you truly thought it was way more fun, why are you waiting for the FMIC to show up? Are you driving the FK8 in winter, and on winter wheels/tires? Or just OEM and post that? If you feel the Mazda and/or WRX are better, go get one. Why waste you money on parts and post on opposite threads? One being "Can't wait", the other being "FK this"?

The WRX has been more fun regardless of season, just so happens it's winter now. The Mazda has dead center steering even with 140k on the odometer. All the videos I watched and articles I read about the CTR bragged about the great steering. Mine isn't great, maybe yours is, good for you. The WRX has a more usable power band in normal driving conditions which many agree with. More pull down low, less on top, opposite of the CTR. You may not like the power delivery of the WRX, I do. I'm hoping maybe with the IC and a custom tune it resolves some of the issues I have with the car so yea, "can't wait". If not then we'll part ways.
So are you the thread police here monitoring opinions making sure FK8 fanboys don't get offended?
