I know this would seem to be very basic question, but I am far to Chicken to try it to find out (been driving an automatic too much recently)

If I am driving a GenX manual Civic, and I am in a forward gear, and moving forward, is it possible to shift into reverse (by accident in any way), or is there a positive lock out of Reverse in such a case, ?

ie Is it relatively IDIOT PROOF ???

Mine is very difficult to get into reverse if I am rolling forward even slowly. I don’t think you would accidentally do it. It has to be pretty deliberate.

Over 10mph and a collar engages to block you from getting into reverse.

Driving many different manual cars last 25 years, I don't see how you can accidentally do it

Reverse?
I think you're referring to the 'R'ace gear that unlocks an extra 75hp and 10psi of boost

There is an electronic solenoid for reverse lock out on the manual transmission 10th gen Civics. It activates over a certain speed (around 10mph) to prevent you from going from a forward gear into reverse.

Never tried to, never had any trouble finding 6th. Maybe I'll give it a try.
Here's another lockout- I can't get into 5th or 6th with the engine off.

When the car isn't moving the reverse lockout is off. With the reverse lockout off the "wall" you feel when you shift over to 5th and 6th is gone. You can still shift into those gear and they are still in the same spot but you can't rely on the feel of the reverse lockout "wall" to go into those gears.

AGREED --but that was not the question.. I was asking if you could do it on purpose.

But so good to now that you "don't see how you can accidentally do it" :patriot:
