Can you explain this? Did you dyno tested the racechip? If so, which modes? Do you have dyno graphs?
Can explain more later once all done. I dropped by after work during RCs dyno runs, Took few snaps, one run vid I’ll put on YouTube later. Didn’t want to slow them down asking too many questions. I was shown exactly what was going on and have trust their judgement during this final process, graph glimpse attached.

Like a good chef, don’t share exact recipe and ingredients until fully cooked and it tastes as intended. It is interesting to see piggyback work well as they do for Honda as German luxury cars. Few special challenges handled and was assured testing done in all modes (RC and R itself) that are independent. So, you like Comfort suspension but want more oomph? Possible to do just they, 21 combos possible if my pre-coffe math is right (3 veh modes x 7 RC = 21. Depending on dyno avail and adj shop workload, it might not be one exhaust install and final follow up tune/trials until Thursday.

Piggybacks work! It's all just a matter of preference.

New day, final pulls, it comes home tomorrow (20th) after 4 days at Racechip lab. This was not to just finish kit but see and adj any impact AWE had, generate final sheets for me OTD (higher than kit numbers perhaps). If all goes well, me & rainy R get reacquainted at lunch.

Some dyno runs today were over 400hp, the safe place is NTE 80% max for sustainment. Much time spent adj T to chg H, along w/other non-ECU touching magic to find a good balance.

Settings that will become RCs #s using these tunes that got these results for kit baseline using a donor/demo stock R that just happens to be red? Whose is it? Lucky guy, one of a kind tune until R kits release.

Results- (all are Dyno WHP as H for horsepower/Torque in ft lbs=T) and increases as + rounded to closest whole # compared to stock, order matches photos.:

Baseline no tune 285.9H/296.2T

Tune Setting 3 Eco, 327.7H/341.4T (+ 42H/45T)

Tune 5 Sport, 335/358.4T (+49H/+68T)

Tune 7 Race, 366.8H/372.8 (+81H/76T)

There are 4 sensor touch points.

93 Oct only throughout, OAT low 60s F but veh heat meant breaks between sessions.

Tomorrow CKs exhaust tune impact and adj to keep power & torque down and on good flat sweeps.

The AWE Touring done today sounds fantastic!

I’ll try to do some amateur vids for pwd protected posting to YouTube this weekend.

Kytos,
We asked 100 car owners what sensors are four?

You said, MAF, MAPx2 and O2?

Survey says - X!

(Hints)

Next up, the twins. We like watching the throttle body flex.

Thanks ladies, I do what I ca_.

Mm ok.

Two on either side of the throttle body, thus twins reference.

MAF & MAP correct.

Cam monitored and RC adjusts based on events.

Is it just me or is this thread turning into a bit of a Racechip ad?

RepyT, full disclosure are you affiliated with them in some way?

I was just asked what sensors are used, trying to respond playfully and folks are thinking I’m running an ad?

I’m not affiliated with Racechip. Everything is just me expressing my opinion. I work for the DoD, AF, it’s my only income source besides mil retirement and investment proceeds. We’re good now right?

I’ve been a wannabe comedian member here since last Oct when I got my R in Atlanta, saving nearly $10k vs local.

I went to find the local established speed shop new location and there it was, Racechip, right next door.. I’d heard of them for lux imports so i asked about their line as I was looking for a tuner. They said don’t have a product line yet for a CTR.

Long story not short, after an ongoing discussion over several days, I offered up my stock ‘19 R to help them develop a CTR product we could potentially all enjoy. They didn’t charge me retail price for the device and since shared with speed shop, I had no dyno costs.

Apparently CTRs aren’t prevalent in Germany RC HQ area and when US office was in Cali until recently vs NWFL, they didn’t pursue doing this since emissions limited. They couldn’t get a stock CTR to use as most get some mod prior. FFWD to plan agreed, let’s do this. I was given daily status updates, good results but R kept trying to meet not exceed OEM power settings. More sensor controls were added as used on other models. This caused some hold time for parts and Corp travel by lead tech. ibgot it back untuned during the interim.

Now all done except phone app that will be updated by Mon as new phone app released yesterday has some backend work & software to enable my prototype for phone operation. Manual settings work fine, it’s on 5 of 7. That’s already wowed me and exhaust is perfect, droneless, aware of it but only blasts when pushed.

Note that the three diff RC devices you choose by price are universal, the model specific tune is unique.

The FK8 CTR Tune kit is another perhaps safer flexible tuner option and the R kit should be released in a few months.

I feel very fortunate and proud to be part of their process and they’re good at it.

My ODB port is not used and I think some associate Racechip with those type piggyback devices. I have three of those, all by one company, they can work well and one of mine Dyno’d (Ridgeline did go from 280 to 324, +44 HP.

Racechip devices are interrupter controllers without ECU interaction.

Like it or not, Piggybacks work, especially one intelligent that can getvsame/similar results as team H or K, that was proven to me this week after 4 days of tweaks and over 30 pulls total.

I have data of results(attached), getting emailed more. 400 hp achieved but only to determine max then back down to the right combo for safe long term operation, like NTE 80%. I’ll post some after cosmetic only editing with vid on YouTube, possibly linked here.

I see now that this is the real deal that you can install yourself in 15 mins without a laptop, PhD, or special skills.

Anything shy of full disclosure during was not knowing if and what I could share of work in progress out of respect for RC.

I just got car back today, hard rain here. After the AWE Touring exhaust install and re-dyno, they made further changes to their stock tune as my new mod’d baseline that is different from what they’ll release w/kit.

I was given very good support and treated very well with utmost respect through this entire process, kudos to the RC team. The next phase for them is to migrate this to production. I know one connector comes from overseas so world events could slow the supply chain.

Looking for other dyno data here and not finding much as charts, tables, Why is that? I’m not making a claim here, just showing the dang thing works well, decide if it’s right for your I don’t need to be an expert to improve performance, i helped and that feels good.

How can I be an advocate for a good new product without people thinking I have other motives? Not trying to push but I do think it’s cool to 21 combos of veh and engine mode possible, changeable on the fly (except during acceleration).

Thanks for making it through all this and good luck with whatever tune method thrills you.

Piggybacks work, the thing that concerns me most is Ignition control. How can it work safely, optimal and consistently without controlling it? Am I missing something? I still feel more comfortable with a safe tune than a piggyback, which is also less customizable.

I remember them saying timing was adjusted as part of tune program development and that setting is surely a parameter included in each profile. I may have forgotten to add that to list of controls, so much info briefed in short time. I do remember cam is monitor only (not controlled) and changes occur to the engine sensor controls based on the program depending on what the cam is doing. This isn’t like an ODB plug in at all, it learns, listens, reacts to keep things safely optimized. Each model gets this deep dive eval and some cars are easier for them to do. This took a second effort with more controls than the Si has but they certainly mastered it, a more advanced effort around 8/10 on the degree of difficulty scale.

I trust that Racechip process to handle aspect I know little about but have the ability to (safely) go from fuel sipping city driving mode (1) to full race mode (7). They test all of this not only on the dyno but on the street, have corporate telecoms to discuss& verify actions, due diligence and outstanding technical expertise. I’m not easily impressed but certainly was thrilled with the level of effort and focus on this particular tune (routine apparently). It’s not one algorithm fits all (like ODB-II piggybacks), it’s the exact opposite.

My iOS app will be enabled Monday and uses the S/N to confirm authenticity, this the Corp internal load of this initial Type R device).

Existing RC owners (like Honda Si) got the app fix a couple days ago to resolve iOS issues (no issues with under hood selectable module controls, just the app before).

The app offers a selectable warm up timer.

Thus far it’s amazingly better in every respect, I’m in mode 5, 3 is good for Eco, can’t imagine what 7 in +R mode is but surely is a beast, dry and cold today, fun ensues.

Favorite unexpected feature is that ‘whahah’ deceleration burble that makes me smile and spine shiver. Racechip and AWE Touring black triple tip catback certainly play nice together.
