Hey guys. I've got a 16' Ex 2.0 and I'm having an issue. When the temp outside drops below 50 degrees F and damp, my car is having an issue starting. The dash lights come on, and blink like crazy when I push the starter button, but it doesn't turn over. Just makes the old clicking noise. I've had to jump it multiple times just to get where I'm going, but when it get's a bit warmer it starts like normal. I took it to Kwik Car and they tested the battery and alternator. They said both came back fine. So, if the tests came back in perfect condition, what gives? I have read it may be the wrong oil, but I have been using the recommended synthetic 0W-20. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

If you have never replaced the battery, it's the battery. They only last 2-3 years.

If it doesn't start from the battery but starts when you jump it, then the problem is most likely the battery. You could also double check the battery connections to make sure they're not coming loose or anything.

My daughter had similar problems with her LX 2017, the valve cover was leaking oil and it was dripping on the starter, it was intermittant. I don't want to say it is your problem but something to check first.

Battery testing is not 100% reliable. If it fails the test, it is usually indeed weak, but if it passes the test, it may still be bad. A healthy battery has a predictable reaction to temperature changes, but a defective one - who knows...so it should be tested cold before driving.

Hey all. I really appreciate the info. I haven't noticed any oil or loose connections with the terminals. Looks like I will try a new battery. I'll update soon so this thread may help others.

Keep us posted! My bet on the battery too.
