So currently I'm thinking about selling my car to get into either a used Civic Type R or a 2016 435i ZHP. I'm not going to go into specs assuming you're all car guys so you will already know what they are. I'm leaning more towards to BMW because I've always like them. The current 435i I'm looking at has 16k miles and the guy is asking 29k and it's basically top of the line trim before a basic M4 which is my dream car. A bootmod3 flash and boltons would bring it close or over M4 numbers. I haven't seen any crazy reliability issues with this platform. Anyone have experience with a 435i that can chime in? If you dont know then which one would you choose and why?

Just curious what others thought about this.

isn't the '16 435i uses a N55 engine. those aren't necessary the most reliable engines out there.

also a CTR and a 435i are completely different cars so it's kind of hard to say.

They are fairly more reliable compared to the N54 which was in the older 335i's.

that i agree with lol. N54 was a hot mess.

if your looking for straight line power then you really can't beat the BMW engines. They are so fast with just simple mods. The N55 also sounds 1000x better than a CTR.

however, i don't think you'll get quite the same handling capabilities as a CTR or the usability of the hatch. So i think it really just depends on what you want the car for imo.

I have experience with a F30 335i, which the powertrain was very reliable. It's the electronics that had issues (particularly the rear view and side cameras). The 335i was very fun, and mine was xDrive/AWD, which was great for northeast winters. Why not consider a 440i, which has a B58?

If you say the M4 is your dream car but you go out and buy a 'lesser' 4-series, you may start to feel a constant envy of the car you wish you had.
However, with the Type-R there is no higher Civic to lust over.
Completely different cars though, if the 435i is a manual I would probably take that.

Just make sure you can afford the BMW after the warranty expires. Most people who own them these days, get rid of them the instant the warranty expires due to the cost of maintenance and repairs.
