Very nice!
Couple of questions. I am on stock power, and pretty much cooked my Hawk 5.0 front pads and warped my rotors at VIR. I just picked up G-LOC R12 from another member on here, and ordered cryo treated stop tech rotors for the front. Hoping this set up will do better. My question is, how are you not cooking the pads? Maybe the rotors make a difference?
I upgraded to the Type R rear sway bar, which cut down on understeer, but still would like more camber up front. Did the coilovers help with understeer? Do you have stock sway bars?
Several questions here so i'll just answer them in order.

1. I only recently changed to the Hawk pads, so havent had enough time to cook them yet. That being said, i did warp my stock rotors on tail of the dragon last year.
2. Not sure if coilovers helped eliminate understeer, because i never really felt much understeer to begin with. Since installing the coilovers i do feel like the car is more prone to oversteer and so im now considering increasing my negative camber all around. So i guess the answer to your question is yes?
3. still on stock sway bars.

Here are some solutions to your Understeer question.
"
The following will produce a (more) oversteering car:
  • Running front camber more negative than rear camber.
  • Running rear toe more out/negative.
  • Running front toe more out/negative. "

This is one to watch, love that last pic! I'm stock-piling a bunch of parts for next month when the CTR retrofit clutch will go in, and can't wait to get out on track, and do a drive down to Tail of the Dragon!

It's such a well-balanced car and responds to modifications very well :)

For Road Atlanta, or any other tracks where they run, I recommend Chin Track Days. You get up to 3 hours of track time and 3 classroom sessions. No licensing required but if you are a novice, make sure to sign up as soon as registration opens as the novice group usually sells out in the first 5-10 minutes.

Chin is good like Code Monkey said. Jzilla is by far my favorite. Getting six 30 min sessions for $300 is pretty sweet. Good crowd too, everyone is super friendly and will talk to just about anybody.

Sup guys, hope everyone's having a good 2020 so far. Saw a "yo check my build" thread and was inspired to make one of my own. Also considering i haven't done one yet, figured why not. So hey everyone, check my build!

My 2017 Si sedan is my daily driven, track and twisty killin, favorite toy and happy place, MONEY pit! :headbang:
One day i may come to regret my decision for spending as much money on this car as i have, but considering my planned 2020 mod list, that day doesn't seem to be close.

I've currently got about 45k on the odometer and plan on keeping her as long as possible. The car is just too damn fun to drive while still being extremely practical and efficient.

My initial intentions with the car were focused on power. I wanted to make the car fast(er), so I went the power mod route pretty early but have actually kept it relatively conservative at only about 24 lbs of boost. I'm now satisfied with the power level, roughy 320 whp/wtq on e35-40, and so these days i've come to prioritize handling, which is certainly where this car shines. This past winter she saw the most track time yet, and the list of cars we outpaced is very surprising (bearing in mind driver mod plays a huge part). Mustang GTs, Camaros, STI's, Fiesta/Focus ST's, an Alfa romeo, even a Cayman (clearly needed a driver mod) -- but even so. End horn tooting, here's what she's got:

Ktuner V2 with custom dyno tune, shout out to Derek at IMW!
PRL downpipe (catted) and frontpipe
PRL intercooler
PRL cobra intake (race maf)
PRL turbo kit (GTX2860r Gen2)
PRL Flex fuel kit
PRL clutch line
FX350 clutch
Fortune Auto 500 series coilovers on swift springs
SPC adjustable rear camber arms
two identical sets of 17x9 Enkei RPF1's (for summer and winter track events)
Nitto Invo 245/40 (summer)
Michellin Pilot Sport AS3+ 245/40 (winter)
Stoptech front rotors
Hawk HPS 5.0 brake pads front and rear
Acuity shifter and transmission linkage bushings
Type R shifter with acuity spring and rocker arm
Acuity throttle pedal relocator
HFP side skirts and lip

definitely nice to see more daily driven/ track fbo si’s on this forum! Proper build indeed. How do you like the stock exhaust paired with that dp/fp?

We'll it suits the needs both on the track and for a daily driver well enough. Probably could stand to gain some weight savings if I switched to something else, but I'm not really sweating that much. I never really wanted to go for a cool sounding exhaust because I don't think that this engines strong point is its exhaust note.

Spring 2020 update:

Just installed the PRL electronic waste gate actuator conversion and am in the process of getting the car etuned. Once again relying on the expertise of Derek from IMWPerformance.

The install process was pretty easy, but quite a few steps since the compressor housing has to be loosened and rotated in order to remove the bracket that holds the pneumatic wastegate actuator which comes with the gtx turbo from Garrett. The PRL conversion kit comes with a different bracket, which is designed to hold the OEM electronic wastegate actuator. With the turbo off the car, the swap was easy and I could begin putting the car back together.

Driving the car with the electronic actuator was definitely a noticeable difference, specifically when the turbo starts to spool. On the pneumatic actuator, the turbo would begin to audibly spool at negative manifold pressure, usually as low as -3 psi. This would mean that even with as little as 20% throttle, I would be hearing garret dual ball bearing turbo whine. Now don't get me wrong, I think it's a cool sound, but it would dominate the audio experience of the car. After a while, the car is just constantly whistling and has a little bit of one-note-syndrome.

On the electronic actuator, turbo whistle comes in exactly between 0-1 psi, which just feels right.

In other news, about a month ago my fx350 clutch masters clutch, started to give up on me. It lasted me about 2 years with about a year of infrequent track usage. Shortly after the first signed of slippage were realized, I decided to go with the type R retro fit. Well, this upcoming Wednesday my retrofit will be arriving. Will post some pics of that install and give some driving experience feedback. Till then, stay safe everyone.

Spring 2020 update part 2

This past weekend I installed my Type R retro fit clutch/flywheel kit, and with it, the k20 CMC.

While i was in there I also installed the Type R subframe brace.

Coming soon is the FKX racing high flow grille, and the PTP T25 turbo blanket and lava wrap going on my downpipe (not pictured). Will be interested to see how this combination of the high flow grille, turbo blanket and exhaust wrap will help keep my temps down.

Driving notes with the new clutch and flywheel:

So let me just say that i absolutely love this mod. The car is just an absolute delight to drive. No more chatter getting into first from a deadstop, no more super late engagement point, no more crazy heavy clutch pedal and best of all... NO MORE REV HANG.

The single mass Type R flywheel is about 10 lbs lighter than the dual mass Si Flywheel, which has a VERY noticeable impact. It now feels like the time it takes me to actually move the shifter out of the current gate and into the next gate is about the time it takes for the RPMs to drop enough, so that the gears are in sync. I would never feel any gear lockout before, but i've heard that without the Type R CMC, you might experience it, so definitely include that if you plan on getting this clutch.

My FX350 was slipping, but after we took it off the car and took a look at it, it wasn't actually the cause of my slippage, it was the flywheel. So, if anyone wants a used fx350, im sellin her cheap!
