cooler air = better power & more pulls

i have the made in china type IC some say it's sh!t some say it's decent, i say it works a little better than stock (i can get more pulls compared to stock) got it for roughly USD 200 for testing.

apologies if i'm out of topic but still related to IC though . . .

I might need an IC upgrade from stock but with high delivery cost and crazy 40% additional tax, it's cost inefficient for me to get one from 27Won or PRL.

Would you mind sharing the dimension of the intercooler including the diameter of piping?

Only IC, if you want I can get it from my distributor locally. Piping use back original ones.
I did not measure the dimensions. Besides larger, taller, thicker & heavier it fits right into stock location.

I try to source locally before really looking overseas because I could get what I suspect as counterfeit APEXI intercooler locally. Most of the medium sized IC available in my country is 550 x 180 x 65, and 550 x 230 x 65 in measurement. If this is good to go, I will buy and install it this weekend.

Hello everyone,

I installed the IC 2 weeks ago. Didn't get to test it because of the quarantine until this last Saturday.

Before installing it, check everything... Look Inside the tubes, look for cracks on the IC, etc. For some reason, the elbow that connects to the throttle body had a piece of silicone tube inside.

While I was driving It went into the throttle body and the valve got stuck. The car went into limp mode with Christmas lights all over the place. The car was almost begging me to stop, so I quickly pulled over.

Luckily, I had my laptop with me, I searched for errors on ktuner and it showed DTC P2101 (ETCS malfunction) on the screen. I dismounted the TB, found that piece of ? and took it out, while I was at it I cleaned the TB and...voila? Not really...

When this happens, you'll need a scanner capable of running an idle relearn procedure. After all that everything was up and running again

So, be careful when installing anything on your car, don't be like me. ? I learned a lot from this and maybe this can be helpful to anyone having problems with something like this.

By the way, the IC didn't do much with my temps. They are a little bit lower and overall they are more consistent. It looks really good tho ?

Because of this thread I decided to pull the trigger on Depo Racing IC. For $399 it’s the best bang for your buck IC. Quality piece for an affordable price.

Current mods:
Ktuner TSP stage 1
27won CAI
Depo Racing IC
RV6 DP
Hasport 62A RMM
Whiteline 22mm RSB
Swift Spec-R lowering springs

Look how small the stock IC look compared to the Depo!

Hope this answers your question.

Ok, just did a little driving in town with stop and go. I was averaging between 103-109F IAT2, it was between 85-88F outside. Got cooler as the time went by. IAT1 and 2 are tracking pretty consistently actually. I’m not seeing a notable difference thus far.

Update:

Morning commute, ambient air 76-78F IAT2 91-96F in town traffic stop and go, not constant motion ie freeway.

Update:

Evening commute. Freeway driving ambient air temp 79-83F. IAT1 89-96F, IAT2 100-104F approximately 20 minutes on the freeway with constant motion.

I dunno how to feel about it tbh. Seems like IAT2 rises faster than stock (probably due to the bigger surface area) but drops waaaay faster than stock once you start moving especially when you hit boost (probably due to the bigger surface area as well). I wonder if the others have a similar experience..

This morning I took her for a spin. Ambient temps were 67-68 F, 95% humidity according to the weather app.

Seems good for $400. Do you notice any turbo lag from bigger charge pipes or are the charge pipes close to stock in diameter ?

Negligible lag. Feels like she pulls harder after around 3.5-4k rpm. Although I haven’t really pounded on her since the install. Yes, for a budget IC, it’s not bad! Not bad at all!

Been loving my depo racing intercooler. I was running 14.4 on the prl intake + tsp stage 1. Once I installed the intercooler I actually hit a 13.9 and saw way better temps. Turbo lag from a roll is a bit worse but it I'm still on the stock downpipe, I'm sure and upgraded one would flow well. Especially considering the upgraded charge pipes. It also looks really nice!
