K&N is oiled cotton gauze. PRL/Green Filters are oiled woven cotton. The green filter is less layers, but made with a denser stronger weave versus gauze.

I was using an aFe Pro Dry for a little. There was a slight uptick in throttle response immediately off idle, and maybe a little more induction noise... but overall I felt like the engine lost some midrange. I switched back to the OEM Honda.

The green filter's PRL uses claims to have less overspray and slightly less restriction. There's pictures/videos on the website. The difference is not quantified though they qualify it with floating balls (scientific).

https://greenfilter.com/

Don't forget to lube the PRL one if you get it. Mine shipped unlubed. I've gotten a K&N or two over the years and they already shipped lubed (red).
I have heard of these filters in track circles, so I need to read a bit more about them.

Thanks for the heads-up on the filters not having oil prior to delivery, because I might try a set and see how it performs.

I had the KN filter and it definitely makes the turbo louder which I liked. I got the filter shortly after I got the car so I don't know how much of a performance gain I got but to me it was worth it just to be able to hear the turbo better.

The oem filter on these civics are not paper and I seriously doubt any dust will get past it. It is made of some kind of cotton looking blend and it is oiled. I’ve never seen a oem filter this good before. Here is a close up picture of the filter media. And also if you look close you can see oil on the plastic wrapper. The oil gives it the yellow color.

I'm sure the oem filter is the "safest" and filters(restricts) dust better. I'm actually looking for a less restrictive one

I guess that’s where I was getting at. I know some paper filters can be restrictive but I seriously doubt these non-paper filters are restrictive at all. In some cars you might see the slightest gain with an aftermarket “high flow” filter. But I really believe you won’t get any improvement with an aftermarket compared to the Honda oem.

I ordered the aem dry flow after reading about k&n’s potential to harm the MAF.

I'm leaning toward that one too, mostly because of the convenience let me know how it works for you
That's what I have along with the PRL stage one intake hose. No issues but can't really tell if there is any improvement.

it's not going to make much of a difference. just get one and try it out. The aftermarket ones will give you more sound. As for longevity, just be realistic. Is it realistic to have ONE filter forever even if it's claimed to be reusable or can be cleaned? Eventually, you're filter will be clogged no matter how good you clean it. You're better of just replacing it.

Why are you waiting until 15k? I’ll install mine tomorrow. I’m at 1,300 miles.

No reason to wait, it’s just a filter
