Curious as to what mufflers are you guys switching too? The whistle after 4-5k rpm is ridiculous :( I cant handle anymore.
I still haven't fixed it lmao.. I just don't get on it in high rpm's. Basically it's stopping me from fully enjoying the car. Once I have some spare change and time I'm gonna have it straight piped for the time being. My GTO was straight piped so I'm sure I can deal with the sound from this little 1.5 turbo.

I've always noticed this whine noise when the AC is one, thinking it's different from the one you describe.

I guess no exhaust for me to avoid a similar issues as yours!

I see.. Im going to go to my muffler shop and see what they can do ( fingers crossed, they have some sort of fix). I've read only about this whistle noise and apparently some people do they it fixed by how the pipe is angles or whatever. But hopefully I'll see what my muffler shop can do once i saved up enough and worst comes to worst I'll be getting a different muffler based on my muffler shop's recommendation :(

Did anyone switch up their exhaust set up after all? I have the same howling noise and couldn’t figure out where it was from I didn’t think it would of been with the vibrant 1040 but seems like I’m not the only one with this issue.

I never fixed the issue. I'm trading the car in now on Saturday so it will become the next owner's concern. The only thing I would suggest is changing out the muffler or going to a different exhaust setup entirely.

I too have this howl at 4000+ rpm only at WOT with the Vibrant 1040. Sounds like an amplified version of someone blowing into an empty bottle. I tried w/ both a smaller aftermarket resonator, and now the stock resonator, but the problem persists. I might just get rid of the Vibrant muffler altogether since that seems to be the common denominator.

I ended up removing the 1040 and problem solved.

Hello, i have a 2018 Si, i recently installed a catless downpipe, front pipe, and got a muffler delete. Im getting a really nasty whine/whistle noise. Took it back to the shop and they said i had no exhaust leak and that whine is “normal”? its above 4k rpms as well and can’t figure out what it is. Help!

as I keep reading this im thinking maybe its the three tips that make that noise? The way that it’s split up might be the reason it does it.. gonna try and cover the two side tips and just leave the middle one to see if that fixes it..

Hopefully this will well help anyone else who runs into this issue. I had the same problem after a muffler delete when I put a triple tip on the car that was poorly made. I went back to the muffler shop and had the high quality double tip put on and the issue was resolved. It has to do with the way the tip was made and the way the wind hit the exits. This noise is highly likely caused by the tip.

I had dual tips whistled like a mf just bought a 3 tip where middle gets most of the flow thinking maybe it was a back pressure issue and nope just as bad maybe worse
