The higher the gear, the more roll speed you will need or you won’t obtain the proper clamping force.
Yes, you are not astute to manual transmissions.

Hill assist only activates when you're fully stopped at a steep enough incline AND in gear. It holds for 2-3 seconds after you let go of the brake pedal.

I actually don't like because it's not predictable and you can't disable it. I stop and put the car in neutral and then put it back in 1st only after I start letting go of the brake.

Yeah happens to my 19' hatch sport touring too. Just need to release the clutch slower/add more gas

Just being able to get your SI to go 6mph off the line is a skill in it's own! Give it some MF'ing gas!

More gas before you start letting go of the clutch. 1.5k-2k rpm is a good spot before you slowly start letting off the clutch. It takes a bit of practice if you're new to manual but you seem to have it down. More gas earlier BEFORE you start letting the clutch out.

 What? 2,000 is way higher than you need to begin engaging the clutch, dude. You should begin engaging the clutch at 1,200 RPM for regular driving. I engage it at 1,500 if I'm accelerating quickly.. 2,000 is enough to dump and chirp. lol.

You’re probably right. I drive onto a highway ramp everyday and get off in 45-55mph lanes with very few stop lights so I’m usually on it tbh. I should probably let off of it. Commute 40mi one way mostly on the highway.

Totally normal behavior, if you really wanna judder (never heard of this Adjective) but I would recommend trying to start from stop in 2nd or 3rd, that will give you the desired effect of the shuddering and the car laboring to start moving. I have done it in both by accident, although sometimes I do start in second down hill or whatever.

you also get the shuddee/judder in 5th or 6th going from a dead stop to moving again. However these will make you stall unless you depress the clutch back in and change gears.

hope this helps,
Cheers

I hate it too, I actually start off worse whenever it activates. Really wish there was a way to shut it off. I work at a Honda dealer and there’s absolutely no way as of right now to turn it off. Maybe ktuner might figure something out since they’re all j-2534 devices
