I make two years owning my si next month. I usually daily drive the car but lately I have been letting it sit the whole week and using it on weekends here in the cold NYC. I noticed one night turning it on, it hesitated to start and my led interior light would dim on and off. I figure it was nothing drove the car to another parking spot where I live and left it over night again. Next morning I go to start it up dash lights were dim and didn’t wanna turn on. Later that day I got some cables came back to the car and the battery was completely dead. Boosted it, started up, let it run for about 6 mins. Shut it off, didn’t start. I got it tested and they said it was a dead cell. So just Incase to anyone out there running a lot of things like me, HID’s, led fogs, 2 amps, 5 speakers, tweeters your battery wont last long! So I upgraded to a AGM battery and it fired up very fast!

I've heard a lot about the stock battery dying, especially from those who live in cold climate. They usually last about 4 years in areas with mild climates

The 16-18 Civics suffered from a bad batch of batteries tracing back to the supplier. It's since been resolved.

Mine also failed just before two years from a partially failed core. Very common, particularly among higher trims with additional current draw from the infotainment.

Yeah that’s what’s reading a lot of people have failed battery’s! I didn’t wanna bother with warranty. They just gonna look around in the car and say I have this and that and send me home lol. Plus it’s worth the upgraded battery anyway.

Can confirm. I used to work at a Batteries Plus Bulbs and we had a few 10th gen Civics come in with bad batteries. I'm in the Chicago area so it gets super cold here in the winter. Just my 2 cents about battery upkeep, if your car is parked for more than a couple days in the cold, put a tender on it if able. Starting the car for a few minutes won't charge your battery, it will just kill your cold cranking amps (CCA's) and it will struggle even more the next time you try to start. Your alternator won't charge your battery either but more so just keep it where its at.

Long story short, get an AGM battery! It's absorbed glass mat instead of free flowing acid as is OEM. AGM is superior in every way!
