So my front bumper was damaged and i am strongly thinking about replacing with a Type R Conversion bumper. I really like the way is looks but I have some strong reservations on pretty much ALL Ebay modification purchases.
I do not see any other reputable companies offering anything like this. I came across the above link for a conversion bumper that has open vented mesh unlike OEM SI. I also have a PRL CAI.
So my concerns are:

1. Is this Ebay purchase going to be worth a crap? If I get it painted by a professional, will it be a piece that holds up and fit properly?

2. Should I be even more concerned with my CAI being MORE exposed to rain or splashed water because of the exposed mesh? I drive through rain all the time but never huge deep floods of water. Even if I did not get the exposed mesh, would the 4 holes on the sides be enough exposure to cause issues alone?

Can anybody comment on their experiences with CivicX aftermarket bumpers? The above concerns are the 2 main things holding me back from making the purchase.

Nobody has any opinions on this matter? Starting to think I will just pass on this cosmetic upgrade. It is what my gut has been telling me anyways....

There are folks on here who have installed it. I imagine you have used the search bar, but try different combinations of words. Also may be snuck into the "what did you do to your civic today" thread. If I remember correctly, the ikon motorsports one is high quality. I know for sure people have the side skirts and front lips and they fit great, so I would think they make good sh*t and you can trust the bumper.

I have used the search bar. This forum is great but finding defining answers can be a difficult and grueling task. Most of the threads I look through have dead ends or it's a crapshoot with people have two totally different extreme opinions. I am looking for the answer equivalent to how people feel about PRL products. When people ask, "whats a good intake for our cars?" It is a no brainier for literally everyone to suggest PRL with complete confidence. I dont think that quantity of confidence belongs to any exterior cosmetic upgrades that I am looking for. It must not be out there. Otherwise some passionate fellow members would have been happy to endorse their personal experiences. It's all good though. I am over it. This thread can die. My next mission is to just replace my broken grille with OEM and move on.

My opinion is don't do it. People have been trying to get their non Type-R's to look like Type-R's since the dawn of time. I think it looks tacky to try to do anything beyond the red Type-R badge (which people even differ on opinions about) and maybe the spoiler. I actually just saw an si on instagram today with a full bumper and fender Type-R conversion and it just didn't look right. Maybe it was because I knew what I was looking at, but something about it seemed phony. This is all subjective to me though. Ultimately, it's your car and your opinion is the only one that matters. If you like it then go for it, if not, don't. If it make you happy that's all that matters. I would just make sure you see how it looks on multiple examples before pulling the trigger.

Thanks. Good points. Although I will defend my original curiosity. I have no desire to make my SI "look like" a type r. I just like that the type r front and rear has a more aggressive look. I will agree that any picture I have ever seen with a non type r equipped with the type r spoiler looks completely out of place and awkward. If that is what the conversion kit would do then all the more reason to stay away. I wish there was a good option out there though. Sometimes the natural look of my SI can be a bit boring. Thanks for the input! My gut feels better that I am steering away from that.

Personally I like the look of the bumper better than the sedan and hatchback ones. I bought mine off a member here. I don’t see myself going back to the old bumper.

I have never seen that bumper with the lights in the vents before. Where did you find it?

I found them on eBay. I’ve never seen another car with the vent lights either. They have this one also for vent lights

Following. I'm slightly considering doing a CTR bumper on my coupe. Seen a couple with the bumper and it looks good.

I've also been considering this a bumper swap, but every time I look, it says that fitment is for sedan only. can anyone confirm that this bumper will actually fit a coupe with no other extra modifications?

The SoCalAccessories bumper fits all versions, I believe ABS dynamics fits all as well.

Also have had no issues in the rain with my Injen Cold Air Intake.

Proof it fits on coupe:

I live in the Toronto Canada area..... I really want to order this front bumper but I don’t think they will ship to Canada, I’ve emailed them but haven’t gotten any replies....
Any idea of how I can get this ? I would love to be the only one around here if not in Canada that has a SoCal front conversion.

I ordered the type r front bumper and hood from ABS Dynamics.. contacted them via eBay/email and they allowed me to arrange my own shipping arrangements for pickup! Set up the shipping through uShip and the parts are currently in transit!
