Hello all! Are there any door pods for our doors? I have some big magnet, deep 6.5 mids, and rear speakers to install but won't clear the hole designed to fit the stock speakers.

Cut the silly tab off the mounting hole in the door and make your own mounting ring if needed.

Thanks y'all, I'm subscribed to him. I certainly wouldn't be able to build my own sadly. What tool could I use to safely make the door hole bigger?

You should be able to use a dremel/rotary tool

Just installed CT Sounds Meso in my civic. I recorded most of my install so maybe stay tuned for my video. (youtube channel in my signature)

I used these to cut the metal on the doors: https://www.amazon.com/MIDWEST-Avia...l+cutting+scissors&qid=1582610110&s=hi&sr=1-8

Make your own speaker trim out of MDF wood about 3/4" thick.

I used these as speaker mounts: https://www.ebay.com/itm/323849702942
and added speaker baffles to protect from moisture: https://www.ebay.com/itm/6-5-INCH-F...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

I wouldn't put MDF anywhere near your car. Anywhere in general, but the doors specifically. MDF will absorb moisture like a sponge which will cause them to deteriorate and fail. Even places with high humidity can be problematic for MDF. If you DO use MDF, make sure you seal them 100% with something like multiple layers of undercoating spray. It will take a lot because, again, MDF will soak it up like a sponge. The XTC baffles aren't needed and can cause sonic issues. If you decide to use them, cut the bottom half off so they are more of an umbrella and the speakers can breathe.

To cut the doors you can use tin snips (make sure you have the correct ones as they are made to cut straight or curves in certain directions), a rotary tool like a Dremel, an angle grinder with a cut off wheel, or a jigsaw. Though, if you need to add spacers for the speakers to clear the window, you may be able to get by with just a spacer. I'd try that first before cutting the door.

When you cut the tab on the door, make sure you use touch-up paint, or any paint, really, to seal the metal so the door won't rust. If you want to take it to the next level, remove the plastic weather shield, clean off all the urethane, and make a new shield from aluminum. Cut it to the correct shape, add some ears to give you mounting points, add a gasket material to seal it, then install riv-nuts where the ears are to give you a threaded location to bolt the panel on. I would also take that opportunity to deaden the door. You can use sheet dampening material like Dynamat (that's a brand, not a category) or something like Black Hole Tile https://www.blackhole-america.com/tile/ I've been using Tile a lot the last few years and it's pretty damned sweet. It deadens and breaks up reflections in the door all in one product.

Last, if you're feeling froggy, run new speaker wire into the doors. The OEM is actually ok given the power of most 5-channel amps available, but if you're going to be in there anyway, might as well upgrade and do it right.
