Is anyone else’s 2017-2019 Type R seatbelt installed backwards? I’ve tried flipping it but it doesn’t work either. Is this something the factory did on purpose or is my CTR just a rushed production?

If you fold the fabric long-wise at an angle you can slowly slide the fold through the buckle and the buckle will flip as it gets all the way over the fold. Hard to describe, but I've done this more than once in other people's cars. I can't stand it when I get in and the buckle is reversed. Freaks me out.

Yup. I've had this happen on other cars. Usually fixable as described above.

A bit off-topic but I didn't want to start a new thread for it... Is there a reason why our belt buckle cover is so gigantic? When I first got the car, I'd accidentally hit the top of the plastic buckle cover when going for the belt release button.

Because it's not just overmolded on the metal like older buckles, the larger shape is needed to get the necessary rigidity.
There could be many reasons why they switched to an assembly instead of overmolding but I'm sure it was for cost savings.

The belt is not backward. The buckle is. You can flip it by twisting the belt and slide the buckle. It should have enough room to slide it through. I have to do it all the time with my son's car seat.

I just bought a 2019 Civic Hatchback with the same problem. Just found this thread. Did you ever get it fixed? I have flipped the buckle in other cars but I am unable to flip this one. Not enough space.

Probably bring that issue to the dealership and have them reinstall it in the proper direction. Isn't there a screw that holds the bottom part of the belt on the floorboard that can be removed?

There is a whatchamacallit just below the buckle in the picture. Even if you could unbolt the belt from the bottom, could not remove it.

I will go to the dealer eventually.

Thanks.
