I'm not impressed that I can't use Carplay for nav and Bluetooth for audio at the same time

I don't like that there is no aux in on my civic, I tried using my sat radio dock with it's built-in fm transmitter, but there's too much static.
SiriusXM just brought out a Bluetooth capable dock that "will apparently" pair with my civic Bluetooth, as it can have one Bluetooth device paired as a phone and one additional Bluetooth device paired as a media device - but the second I plug my iPhone in and CarPlay starts up, I lose all Bluetooth connectivity.

What is this infotainment unit powered by, an old 80's vintage '286 processor?

If the goal is to listen to SiriusXM content and use CarPlay maps - couldn't you use the SiriusXM app by way of CarPlay to accomplish this?

I am not going to pretend that the SiriusXM app is the greatest CarPlay experience (it is not) but it works. I canceled my SiriusXM subscription about six months ago but piggyback on my wife's subscription that allows me to access content via my iPhone. Don't use it very often but when I do it works adequately using CarPlay.

But, with all that said, it is annoying that you cannot use CarPlay and Bluetooth at the same time. I kinda get why but it is still annoying.

I have a SiriusXM subscription due to the distance I travel where there is no cellular coverage - I work in Northern Manitoba, in which there is an 700 km stretch of highway that has marginal cellular reception at best, reliable connectivity is not possible, so streaming an audio service isn't either.
Personally, I don't get why I can't use both at the same time, it seems very shortsighted on Honda's behalf.

I thought you can use bluetooth and carplay at the same time? I’m not sure, but for me, as long as the car has a known connection with the bluetooth device, i’ll plug in my phone for Carplay, let that load, then go into my car bluetooth settings and connect the other device as a media device. Then i’ll switch my audio source to bluetooth, all my navigation audio will then come through carplay while continuing to play music through bluetooth.

I always do this whenever I’m with a friend in my car and it always works, but by the looks of it I don’t know if it works for everyone?

I can get a video of this working in a bit if you want

I found out last night that this is true - establish Bluetooth first and then plug your iOS device in and it will maintain both.
but plug the Carplay device in first and you are locked out of Bluetooth.
