Wanted to share a couple pictures of some of the testing we did on our brake shims. This particular car is not a CTR, it's an sti. However these cars share a similar weight and the same front brake pad. This particular car had some serious braking issues with our local track (Mission Raceway in BC) with big braking zones and basically no high speed sections allowing brake cooling. This car was especially bad because it is making double the factory power. On top of that, this driver has no chill. He's going all out, all the time.

We were originally able to get TWO laps before this occurred using R16 gloc pads and motul rbf600 fluid.

No fixing the paint (it used to be gold), but we got the brakes bled and cleaned up with new seals and tossing on some of our Ansix ceramic coated titanium shims and improved the ducting to the brakes.

With these two changes he got back out on the track and completed a full session and got 12 laps before experiencing fade. What a night and day difference! 12 laps vs 2!

After the session we did a bit of an inspection. The pads were not having issues, it was entirely fluid boiling. The hubs of this car were blazing hot (hotter than the caliper). The shims held up nicely. The coating was in fine shape.

the gold colour on the shims is from the pads. Even with all of this heat, the dust boots were still in tact behind the shims unlike the previous set.

Now I'm not saying that shims will fix all your problems, but this is a great stepping stone before investing in a proper track oriented brake setup. Most people will never put their brakes through the same level of harassment as the owner of this subaru does, but it will greatly extend the life of the factory calipers when used on track. You can get the shims here for 15% off using code ANSIXAUTO15.
