For those that also, have a EX HB.
I realize the S mode provides a increase throttled response.

However, does it do anything to the suspension?
I mean, being EX - I imaging the shocks are adjustable or anything like a adj. F sport on a Lexus. However,

what does the "S" mode do exactly?

Any changes to the suspension or does it just make the rack and pinion tighter to feel like a nimbler steering response?
Is the Tranny modified or is it just purely a change in gear ratio and more fuel for that increased throttle response?

I know the "S" is not a "sport mod" like the Sport touring or CTR version, so what does the S mode specifically do?

Here’s what Honda says about it.
Drive (S)
â—Ź Better acceleration.
â—Ź Increased engine braking.
â—Ź Going up or down hills.

From my limited experience with the 10th Gen Honda specifically the EX, sport mode only changes the CVT's shifting logic to better stay in the "powerband" zone to have better acceleration so it basically throws fuel efficiency out the window to some degree. It doesn't modify the steering tightness (reduce EPS assist) that I'm aware of and I'm 100% sure the EX doesn't have adjustable dampers. The Lexus IS (which I own) only the IS 350 F Sport has adjustable dampers which Sport mode stiffens the suspension up a bit, but for the rest of the IS lineup, Sport mode reduces EPS assistance to make the steering heavier and tighter and also changes the transmission logic to stay in the higher power area and RPMs as well as much more engine braking (some serious downshifting happens) to get ready to accelerate really hard.

I'm telling you D is Faster then S .

Try flooring from a stop between S and D and youll see ...if u have L that's even better cause ni fake shift

I, too, have an EX hatch. And I'm gonna sound like a broken record but ever since I've learned the Myx two-step technique to accelerating the CVT transmission, I rarely if ever, drop into S or L. Maybe when I feel like I wanna hear the engine more in the higher rev band I'll put it into S but again it's real rare.

“S” is just loading the torque converter, thus higher RPM. Acceleration yes, bot not increasing speed. Good for what Honda states; engine braking and uphill climbing to reduce load at low RPM.
Use “D” for everything else.

I drive in S on mine 24/7 since I got the car cuz I enjoy the paddle shifters. I only use D + Eco when going to work on my 40 minute commute on the freeway. Then it’s back to “fun mode”, feels more “alive”. Fills the void till riding season kicks back up.

Haven’t done a full stomp in D but have on regular S and S + M1 (paddle shifters). Even when cruising on D most power “in my eyes” while observing doesn’t really kick till around 3k RPM’s

I traded my IS250 F for this Civic EX HB, its why I am posing this questions.
I do miss the IS250 F sport's overall performance. However, the Honda's mpg and maintenance is nicer on cost savings for sure.

This is interesting. I have a 2019 EX Sedan, but I've only ever driven in D so far (only owned the car for a little over a month though, so not a big sample size)
